So I have decided to book myself in for my first rear/buttocks laser hair removal and want to know what are the things I should do before going in. Do I need to shave the area before hand (tidy up)? Will they do that there if I haven’t? I need the deets.

Answer: Shaving pre-laser treatment Hello, You must always shave prior to receiving laser hair removal. This is for safety and efficacy of the treatment. The laser targets pigment, so if your hair is long and laying on top of your skin it will laser there instead of into the follicle and potentially burn you. You should shave yourself prior to the appointment. Depending on the providers, there may be a shaving policy. For instance, we require our patients to shave 24 hours prior to the appointment. We do have razors in the office just in case a few hairs were missed, but it is not our practice to shave an entire area.
