What are these dark red spots that I got from microdermabrasion? (Photo)

I got my 5th microdermabrasion done yesterday. It was done by a different doctor than other times. After the microdermabrasion, I went home and was shocked to see these dark red spots. They are painless, hard and a bit bumpy. What are these?

Thank you for your question! Microdermbrasion(MDA) is a superficial skin resurfacing procedure with mechanical expfoliation of outer layer of the skin by using either diamond tips or crystals. Although it is considered as a safe procedure, one can easily go beyond epidermal layer if they use the wrong tip, more passes, more suction, or applying too much pressure. The side effects can be seen easily in some one with rosacea, use of recent Retinol/chemical peel, skin atrophy, and impaired healing.   It is crucial that you follow post procedure guidelines. Continue to use Broad-spectrum sunscreen with Zinc and Titanium, and medical grade skin care products, to prevent post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. Best of luck!
