Can I have my canine tooth filed down and crowned for a smile makeover? (photo)

Question

I an 26 now and have been being very self conscious about my ugly teeth! I don't like to "laugh out loud" and don't have enough confidence talking with people! ＞_＜ finally I decide to have a smile makeover! I am thinking to do at least front 6 teeth, will cerec 3D a good choice? Can I file down my ugly canine tooth and put on a crown to make it look nicer? Thank you for your opinions!

That can be one of the options; one
consideration is to what extent these teeth need to be filed down to provide a
nice natural aesthetic and congruent smile. If the ‘eye’ teeth are sticking out
a lot or protruding, then you would have to reduce a substantial amount of
tooth structure to place a veneer so you have to weigh up the long-term
benefits of doing this. Ideally in these cases, even a mild or short course of
orthodontics to get the position of the teeth or improve the position of the
teeth prior to any porcelain or aesthetic work, can reduce the amount of tooth
structure that has to be grounded off the existing teeth. In your case, the
canines are quite protrusive and the laterals are quite in. There’s going to be
a big difference in the thickness, whether it’s bonding or porcelain, that’s
placed on there. By getting these teeth in better alignment, you will reduce
the size of the material that has to be placed on there. CEREC could be quite
an ideal choice but it is dependent on how skilled the CEREC user is. The more
skilled a CEREC user is, the better the outcome is in designing the final set
of restorations or veneers in this case.

In looking at your photo and factoring in that you are 26 I would highly recommend Invisalign orthodontics as a first choice.  This would allow proper tooth alignment that would be permanent.  It would also avoid significant healthy tooth enamel reduction that would be required for porcelain veneers.   It is highly  likely that the veneers will eventually need to be replaced later in life.

I agree with you , 6 veneers would be a great decision, that way we can change the shape ,size and color of your smile, all designed with with teeth nice and even. And within 2 appointments your problem would be solved and it could be Cerec that is a good option for you. Hope this helps.
