Unilateral Breast Reduction and Lift - Cost?

Breast asymmetry is quite common amongst women.  If you are happy with one breast but need a reduction and/or lift on one side, this can be done-as long as you realize you will not have perfect symmetry (nobody does).  This can be done under general anesthesia and can take anywhere from one to two hours.  The cost for this can vary depending on the anesthesia fees, facility fees and length of surgery.  The total fees could range anywhere from 3000-7000.

Consult with a few board certified plastic surgeons until you feel comfortable with your surgeon and their surgical plan for your specific anatomy.

The cost of a combined breast reduction and lift varies considerably across the

nationally accredited facilities. The quality must be maintained at the highest
level to maintain accreditation. The surgeons also have incentive to hire and
train quality staff (to ensure that surgery is efficient and enjoyable), to
ensure comfortable and private facilities (to encourage referral), and to
eliminate waste (to ensure that these facilities can compete effectively).

Each surgeon’s fees will be different depending on many factors.  Factors such as the certification of the surgeon, the experience of the surgeon, if the surgery is performed in the office or in a hospital / outpatient surgery center, if performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia and who is administering the anesthesia.  Don’t choose your surgeon ONLY by price, make sure they can achieve your goals.

The cost for a breast reduction is usually more compared to a breast lift.Usually there is a surgeons fee.OR cost and anesthesia.The cost for a breast lift is about 1500-2500 and the cost of a breast reduction is about 3-4000 per side.the same is true for the breast lift,ie the cost is per side.

Usually a breast reduction or at least a lift is done on the opposite side as well.  But a unilateral reduction fee will vary around  the country. This could be any where form$3500-$10,0000.

Prices vary tremendously, from one part of the country or region to another, and even within a given region.  You will, in general, need to see several doctors in your area to find out what the costs will be near you.

Breast Reductions may be covered, totally or partially, by insurance.  However, if too little tissue is being removed, the procedure would be considered more cosmetic and then termed a breast lift, or mastopexy, and would typically not be covered.  In a situation in which one is reduced and the other is lifted, coverage is even more tenuous.

That doesn't mean it's not worth trying.  As you go around for your consultations, ask the surgeons if they think you're large enough to obtain insurance coverage and, if so, if they would help you getting that coverage.

If it's purely a self-pay, then be sure to ask what the fees are for the surgery, the Operating Room and the Anesthesia.  It may well be between $6000 and $10,000.

There is a very wide variation in the costs of aeshetic surgery which are largely geographical.  You will find that the cost in Gastonia or Charlotte is much less than it would be on either coast.  There is a chance that the reduction portion could be covered by insurance if you have symptoms and a large enough weight of breast tissue is removed.
