Had braces in 2014 recently told I needed to crown my front teeth, another ortho said porcelain veneer Can I still wear my retainers after they get fixed? I absolutely hate my smile

According to the pictures, in your specific case porcelain veneers or crowns also can be applied. This depends on the health of your teeth and gums. If there is too much caries and dental stones crowns can be better after cleaning all the caries and dental stones. You can still wear retainers but we will make new retainers for you, you can’t wear the old ones. After restoring of your front teeth, a perfect smile can be created for you.

It's very hard to say from the photos why someone would suggest full crowns for your front teeth. I can see is that as a result of your ortho treatment your upper incisors are rotated and flared slightly. Because of this, the proportions of the central and lateral incisors look wrong, probably causing your dislike for them. There probably wasn't enough room to get those teeth in their proper alignment at the time of ortho treatment, so this was the compromise that was made. I would like to see you in person to better understand the situation. It could be that four bonded porcelain restorations of the upper incisors would be better able to adjust the proportions of them. Combine that with some whitening and you will have a great smile.
