Is having all 4 of my bicuspids (1st premolar) extracted necessary for fixing my overbite? (photos)

I am 21 years old. I just started the process of getting braces. I have got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed in October and I am not sure if removing all 4 of my 1st premolars is necessary to fix my overbite. My orthodontist said that if not then the braces will push my teeth further out. I have seen 2 orthodontist and they both said that I do need to have at least 4 teeth extracted but they both gave different teeth to extract. Is this necessary, pictures below

While there is some valid points to the argument to remove, I would see how it is without the extractions.  It is possible that you would like the result.  My main concern with removing teeth is from an airway standpoint, since I treat snoring and sleep apnea, and the smaller arches (that we get from extractions) are the more difficult cases to handle.  It may still need to be done, but I would try not to if it were my mouth.

Extraction of four (or two) bicuspid teeth for orthodontics is becoming a thing of the past as we learn more about the future unintended consequences of this traditional type of orthodontic treatment.  The problem is not too many teeth, but underdeveloped jaw structures.  Leaving the underdevelopment by extracting teeth, then straightening the remaining teeth can lead to future health problems, such as obstructive sleep apnea and TMJ Dysfunction.  See an orthodontist/dentist who will expand the arches before using braces to get a full, healthy smile.  They need to understand and be proficient in using slow palatal expansion, not rapid expansion commonly used by traditional orthodontists.  With this technique, expansion can occur at any age.  Good luck with your treatment.
