CoolSculpting is excellent for gynecomastia! We treat many male’s suffering from this condition and have seen excellent results. Men appreciate the fact that they can come into our office, be treated in a private room, and leave the office with minimal discomfort and no downtime.
Although CoolSculpting is an excellent, non-invasive fat reduction technology, it is not FDA approved for use of the male chest. For excess fat and male breast tissue, I recommend gynecomastia surgery, which involves the suctioning of fat and excess breast tissue through a cannula. These cannulas are specifically designed for gynecomastia surgery, as regular liposuction cannulas are not effective. I prefer to not make any incisions around the nipple/areolar complex so my patients do not have visible scars. With gynecomastia surgery, the results will be instant, and patients have little downtime. For optimal results you must have an in-person evaluation. I suggest you contact a board certified plastic surgeon with experience as well as the proper surgical instruments.
CoolSculpting may be used off label for pseudogynecomastia on males. You would need to be evaluated by a physician to see if this is the best treatment option for you. There may be a better surgical option depending on the make up of the breast and the amount of fat/breast tissue present.
CoolSculpting can be a good option for men who only have fat in the breasts. A CoolSculpting provider would need to physically assess you first to make sure you are a good candidate for the procedure.
Coolsculpting is not FDA approved for treatment on male breasts in the US, however we have had very good results doing the treatment off label. As long as the breast tissue is fat (known as psuedogynecomastia), vs. glandular breast tissue (gynecomastia), Coolsculpting will be quite effective. Of course it is necessary to have a consultation/examination by an expert Coolsculpting practice to determine if you are an appropriate candidate. Hope that helps.Thank you for the question,Dr. Paul Flashner
I have seen good results for Coolsculpting for the male breast, but I would say that there is a big 'depends' on the skin laxity and how fibrous the tissue is. This is one area that I often caution patients that surgery may be needed as a back up option if they are not satisfied either because there is not enough reduction, or because there is too much skin laxity. I would visit with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area so you can discuss the options in more detail.
Some males have pseudogynecomastia which is fatty engorgement of the breast vs. true breast tissue hypertrophy called gynecomastia. CoolSculpting would be used as an off-lable procedure and it needs to be confirmed prior to treatment that the male has a benign fatty accumulation rather than anything potentially serious.
Hello and thank you for your question. We have treated for gynecomastia in males with success. You will have to go to a board certified cosmetic doctor that is certified in coolsculpting. You can discuss your concerns and see if this is the right treatment for you. Hope this helps, good luck to you!!
The appearance of excessive fat over a man's chest can be due to Gynaecomastia, excessive breast tissue or excessive fat accumulation around the male breast tissue. CoolSculpting, an FDA approved fat reduction procedure that uses a controlled cooling device to eliminate stubborn fat, can be used to reduce excessive fat around the breast tissue. During the procedure, fat cells within the treated area are frozen, causing them to undergo apoptosis or natural cell death. The treated cells are then naturally eliminated from the body leaving the treated area slimmer and more sculpted. Most men will require one or two treatments to achieve optimal results. Gynaecomastia or excessive breast tissue is better treated with surgery. You may want to see your doctor for an assessment and discuss the various treatment options best for you. Hope the above helps! Thank youDr. Terence Tan Halley Medical Aesthetics, Singapore
Thank you for your question. You will need to be evaluated first to know if you are a good candidate for treatment. There are two things that this area could be, it could be fat, or breast tissue which cannot be treated with CoolSculpting. I recommend having an evaluation with an expert to determine if you are a candidate for treatment. Best of Luck!
