After having the palatial expander I had on for about two and a half months removed. I was not given a retainer due to the fact my ortho said I was good to go. I questioned the decision, and ortho answered it was because of my age of 19 it was only dental tipping. But I did however noticed my upper jaw cheekbones widen tremendously. Now It has been almost five months since the removal of my expander and the expansion in my jaw stayed widen.Did the bones widen or is my teeth pushing my cheekbones

Some attachments are more important than others. If your orthodontist
didn’t mention anything it was probably not one of the crucial once. He can
always add new attachments or remove some of the old once as needed when a
refinement is done.
If it seems to fit the same you are probably okay. You can
certainly damage them if you do that in the future and place too much force.
Then a new aligner might need to be ordered.
Depending on the position of the attachment on the tooth it
is possible for it to interfere with full closure while it stays on the tooth. Most
of the materials used for the attachments are much weaker than your teeth so
the worst case scenario would be you wearing down the attachment itself....
