The procedure was quick and virtually painless

I can't think of any way Dr. Manning could have provided better care and service. From the first consultation to the last follow-up, he listened carefully to all my questions and concerns, and never made me feel rushed. The procedure was quick and virtually painless, with very little pain afterwards. If I had a close friend who wanted upper eyelid surgery, I would send them Dr. Manning's way...

Best Surgeon for Breathing and Cosmetic Issues!

When I was in high school I underwent rhinoplasty after I had broken my nose twice playing sports. I was hoping to improve my breathing and restore my nose to it's original form. Unfortunately, the results of the surgery didn't meet expectations. My breathing didn't improve and I was very unhappy with the way I looked. Over the years my breathing got worse and I decided to consider...

5 months post op facelift to address chin, neck & jowls

It will take you some time to get an initial consult with Dr. Thompson. Do NOT be discouraged! IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! I was turning 51 in the Fall of 2021 and really wanted to address my chin, my neck and those jowls. I saw Dr. Thompson again, about 1 month before my surgery to ask my last few questions and brought my husband with me. My husband was really against me having a facelift and was...

Q: Is the use of finasteride after a hair transplant the general consensus among hair surgeons?
Answered by Dr. HenstromApril 25, 2023

A: Yes, that is the general consensus and certainly recommended for best and longest lasting results. Look at it this way, after having gone through a hair transplant procedure, and all that it entails, you will want to do everything you can to maintain the hair you have. This is true whether it's the natural hair or transplanted hair. The finasteride will certainly have more effect on the hair that is more predisposed to loss, but newly grafted hair can benefit.
Sincerely,
Dr. Doug Henstrom, Utah Facial Plastics

Q: Are blood thinners a complete contraindication for hair transplantation?
Answered by Dr. HenstromApril 25, 2023

A: While not an absolute contraindication, blood thinners can make a hair transplant more difficult because of the increased bleeding. A case like yours can be undertaken safely, especially if the number of grafts needed is relatively low. Excessive bleeding on the scalp at the time of transplant will certainly slow the process down, and take longer, but it can be done. One of the other considerations for you is your age, overall goals, and possible expected hair loss based on family history. Happy to discuss further if your interested.
Sincerely,
Dr. Doug Henstrom, Utah Facial Plastics

Q: Hair transplant procedure in 1 week. Can I still take oral minoxidil?
Answered by Dr. HenstromApril 25, 2023

A: It is generally recommended to stop oral Minoxidil at least a week before your hair transplant and it's mainly due to the fact that it can increase blood flow to the scalp that can cause increased bleeding at the time of the procedure. While it's not absolutely required to stop it, and the procedure can certainly be done with people on it, we routinely have our patients stop using it for that reason. Your surgeon may have different experience with patients on minoxidil at the time of their transplant than myself, but not uncommon to stop it. The good news is that the half life of minoxidil is very short and can get out of your system very quickly.
Good luck with your hair transplant.
Dr. Doug Henstrom

Q: 24 years old, naturally asymmetric hairline. Can I fix it with a hair transplant? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. HenstromApril 25, 2023

A: Yes, hair transplant would be a possibility for you to try to balance and achieve better symmetry in the hairline. A thorough consultation with a hair transplant specialist is warranted, and a discussion of hair health (loss, changes in the hairline, family history and expectations of hair loss) is important to finalize any decision regarding potential hair transplant, especially in younger patients such as yourself.
Sincerely, Dr. Doug Henstrom,

Q: Which is better for lip augmentation: dermal tissue graft or fat transfer?
Answered by Dr. ThompsonMarch 28, 2023

A: In my experience, fat grafting doesn't seem to survive well in the lips for most. The only time I do lips is if they are already adding fat to the face as well. Lip filler tends to last 6-12 months, and most patients are only being treated once a year. Hope this helps!
