The whole process was so smooth with no pain at all

Dr. Sung is amazing! He’s very professional, knowledgeable and easygoing. I had a thermage treatment with him and he made the whole process so smooth and no pain at all! I always thought thermage is painful but the new technique that Dr. Sung used is so effective and minimizes the pain. He also listened to my sensitive skin type concern and adjusted the energy level accordingly. The staff h...

Q: What is Vivace Microneedling?
Answered by Dr. SungSeptember 1, 2021

A: In the right hands, this is a top notch RF micro-needling device. RF stands for radio-frequency which is a form of electric current. The insulated gold micro-needles deliver this energy to different levels of the skin. Sounds painful? It could be if the machine is designed to staple your face and deliver large amount of heat in a poorly controlled fashion. Vivace is made and designed in South Korea where RF micro needling is very popular. This device allows the surgeon to have complete control of level of where the energy is delivered and how much. The delivery of the needles to patient is gentle and controlled. Most importantly, my patients who had RF microneedling before with other devices found a much more comfortable experience with much better results.

Q: I gave myself a 20% TCA peel at home. After a shower I noticed large blisters on my face. Did I harm my skin? (photos)
Answered by Dr. SungOctober 18, 2018

A: Hello Andrea,

To do a chemical TCA peel on your skin at home can be very dangerous if not done correctly. The pH of the peel is important to know the depth it will go into the skin & the % of the peel is how much the strength of how much it will irritate your skin. It is never recommended to do a peel yourself (unless the pH is higher and percentage is lower, therefore safe enough for you to do.

I recommend that you see a professional as soon as possible to ensure your skin will heal correctly. Go ahead and start using SPF to protect your skin and use more of an emollient moisturizer

Q: Should I opt for CO2 fractional laser for my scars or continue with RF microneedling? (photos)
Answered by Dr. SungOctober 11, 2018

A: Hello! Through the photos you have posted I would suggest you either try ResurFX Laser OR CO2. ResurFX laser is a non ablative fractional laser, while CO2 is a fractional more aggressive laser completely making the a new layer of skin cells.

With CO2 laser you only need 1 treatment but you will have downtime to heal, with ResurFX you have zero downtime but you do need more than 1 treatment to get the best results. Both are noticeably amazing results. I would suggest consulting with your dermatologist, or doctor to see which one would be best for you.

sending you the kindest regards.

Q: Will microneedling loosen the skin and is it irreversible?
Answered by Dr. SungOctober 11, 2018

A: It is highly unlikely that you should experience laxity in your skin. I am very unsure as for how you feel that is the cause or that your skin is already "loose". Microneedling stimulates collagen growth in the skin for tighting, evening out skin texture, and helps with hyperpigmentation in the skin. Following right after the treatment your pores are more open in your skin making you more dehydrated from lack of water because your skin is more exposed. It is important to follow up with a treatment serum and products that can give the skin back hydration because you may experience some dryness. Hydrate your skin more and use the best products after the treatment such as ZO, Skin Ceuticals, etc. Your skin after microneedling will bring white blood cells to fix, and stimulate more collagen growth to from. Thus you shouldn't have any laxity at all.

Sending you the kindest regards.

Q: Silicone Implant to Get Sharp Tip in Asian Rhinoplasty?
Answered by Dr. SungSeptember 23, 2018

A: No.  Silicone and Goretex are not the only materials.  Due to the risk of complications associated with artificial materials, I recommend my patients to use rib cartilage graft.  It is true that some patient do not have enough septal cartilage either naturally or due to previous surgery, but everyone has enough ribs.

Another very important factor in creating a refined tip in Asian skin is managing the soft tissues.  Asian skins are thicker with require more attention.

Most importantly, you must willing to deal with the recovery which could last 1-2 years.  Post-operative management is an important part of any surgery, especially in Asian Rhinoplasty.

Best Wishes.
