One thing that has thrown me off for awhile when doing my makeup is my piercing scar above my upper lip. It has been there for about 11 years now. I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of it forever. Now it's becoming more common to get rid of scars from piercings. Today I got my piercing hole punched out with a biopsy punch and stitched up. It was numbed and stitched, it looks like one stitch. I wait one week and will get it removed. The process was less than 10 minutes, and the day of my first appointment (which was today) they were able to do it. I will post photos once the stitch is removed next week. Updated on 21 Mar 2020: So I got my stitches removed a week after getting them. Doctor said that it will take around a year for the new scar to be of satisfaction. Here’s a photo of my piercing scar before the scar revision. I had one hole from piercing it myself, and the other hole was having it redone. I hated looking at it. Had it for 11 years, and piercing has been out for 7 years. This photo was taken a month before the scar revision. Updated on 23 Mar 2020: It’s been a week since the stitches have been removed. I have been assured that my scar is NOT keloiding, despite my concern. Discoloration will be present awhile and I am told to wait approx a year for satisfactory result. I am regularly covering the scar in a thick layer of aquaphor and washing my face with an antibacterial Dove bar. I’ve been covering it with a band aid when I go outside so that the sun doesn’t discolor it even more. Will be putting sunscreen on it. Updated on 27 Mar 2020: The scar seemed to be depressed in the center the first few days but now it’s beginning to be less sunken in and more level on the surface. The coloration is also less purple and beginning to lighten a bit. Still have a long way to go, but I know patience is necessary for scars. Updated on 7 Apr 2020: I’ve been regularly doing scar massages on this area and using ScarAway silicone gel religiously twice a day. Still have a long way to go but I’m not hating the progress at all. I’m happy so far. Updated on 10 May 2020: I’m still using ScarAway roll on gel. I’m beginning to realize that the one thing I really don’t like about this is that the stitching method that he used (stitching on my face rather than through my lip) cause a little railroad track type scar. It is a bit raised on the “tracks” giving the illusion of small dents. Still, looks better than two piercing scars to me. Still waiting for pigmentation to fade. Updated on 7 Aug 2020: Still a bit discolored and pink. Updated on 4 Oct 2020: Updated on 18 Jul 2021: Scar has turned out to be more depressed after over a year. I’m now getting laser treatments and soon to be getting micro needling to bring it to the surface hopefully. Not happy with the result. I just want to stop stressing over this already
