It was $600 for 6 threads in the cheeks/midface. Had this procedure 3x. You're swollen about a week, then from week 1-3 months looks great, still looks good months 3-6, months 6-9 very small improvement from doing nothing, and by month 9 completely gone. I do Botox, Sculptra, and fillers in combination for max effect. Absolutely the most painful procedure I've had, even with numbing injections in advance. The sound of the threads going in is unpleasant, too. But it's fast. I keep it up because aside from Facetite or a mini facelift which run in the high thousands, there's nothing that really works for lifting that I've found with quite a bit of research, or the lifting effects are so minimal that it's barely noticeable if at all. Thread lifts actually noticeably lift and soften my nasolabial folds. I was using fillers in cheek as a lifter and this was fine through my 20s but when I needed more fillers as I aged, the anatomy of my face changed so that I just looked puffy putting more fillers in my cheek as opposed to lifted, so I set out to find something expressly for lifting. I'm a little concerned about the scar tissue that's being created with each treatment speeding up aging/causing asymmetries long term. They call this "collagen production"... what that means practically is scar tissue being formed. I have not found any evidence to support this concern, however. For reference, I'm a 31 yo Caucasian female.
4.5 months ago, I did a treatment called Shurink, which is a form of Hifu/Ultherapy ( I didn't know what Ultherapy was at the time) I'm 29 and about to start a new job, so I thought this would be the perfect time to start doing more preventative skin treatments. Shiny is a Korean clinic near me that was highly rated with a ton of reviews, I decided to check it out and splurge on a small treatment. The clinic physician suggested Shurink -- a top of the line, and a popular treatment in Korea. The before and after pictures showed only the jaw area -- and the results seemed promising. In order to get the full effect, three sessions would need to be done. She never mentioned the level of pain to expect, nor did she give me explanation of much of anything else-- and instead encouraged me to get it right away. Looking back, I should have backed out based on her pushiness alone -- however I was feeling pretty down that day, and was already determined to do something for myself and my shitty self-image. I will say the nurses at this clinic are way more engaging and warm. The treatment itself was so unexpectedly painful, even with a topical numbing cream -- my eyes were tearing through the whole thing. The machine pulses into the skin with three different depths for different sections of the face. Yes, I did full face treatment. My face felt very tight afterwards, as well as sore. The swelling lasted for about a week and a half, but the soreness and jaw-tightness lasted for 3-4 weeks. At two months, I saw a slimming of the jawline, which was flattering. However, other parts of my face also seemed to lose a little volume/slimmed. My nasolabial folds became a little more noticeable. The soreness had left, but there would be lingering tingling/numbing sensations. I noticed that my eyes would be frequently very dry, and get red easily -- making me constantly squint. Not only that the appearance of my eyes has changed as well -- in my opinion, older. I believe there was some nerve damage to the right side of my face however, my smile is more uneven. These changes at this time aren't drastic enough to be noticeable to anyone else, but they were definitely noticeable to me. At 4 months, the face-slimming/volume loss has seemed to slow down. However, I feel like the treatment either damaged some nerves in the right side of my face or accentuated any asymmetry that was there before -- my eyes are more uneven now, and so are the corners of my mouth. My lips in general seem to sit a little lower on my face. When I compare pictures of myself to before the treatment, I definitely seem at least a few years older in a very short amount of time. The skin under my chin and on my neck also seem to have a bit more laxity. By the time, I had finally done my research-- it was too late. There was very little information about the treatment Shurink; but the negative reviews of Ultherapy had me panicked. These last few months have been anxiety-ridden to the point where I've lost sleep, and had trouble concentrating at work. The prospect that I may have ruined my health, or that there will be even more adverse effects as a result of this treatment is taxing me mentally. I'm terrified of what the future might hold -- all because of a small treatment. Right now, I'm holding off on posting any pictures, mostly due to anonymity. However, I will keep updating as time goes on. Any words of encouragement/advise would be much appreciated.
