A: I do this often for patients with bulky masseters looking to slim the lower face or for patients who often clench or grind their teeth. It is very well tolerated and is usually just a few injections per side. The average amount used is 15-20 units per side but can vary depending on the degree of hypertrophy. It typically takes more than 1 treatment for the slimming effect to be appreciated. This does not cause any hollowing of the cheeks in my experience nor does it pose any risk to the facial nerve if done by an experienced injector.
A: From your photo, this does appear to be a mild bruise and not the Tyndall effect. The Tyndall effect occurs when some fillers are injected too superficially in the skin, causing the filler to reflect light with a bluish discoloration. Usually it is accompanied by some lumpiness. Your discoloration should resolve on its own in the next 7-10 days. Best of luck.
A: Rosacea is not a contraindication for getting Botox and in fact, some studies suggest it may actually improve the redness and flushing.
A: As you have suspected, your frown lines are probably not as deep as you think. Botox generally doesn't erase permanent etched in lines but it can certainly soften them by relaxing underlying muscle fibers. If you are getting near complete improvement, then this is of course an optimal result. Regular treatment will help prevent further deepening of these lines over time.

The great benefit here is that you get 2 laser treatments simultaneously. The Fraxel and most similar systems are generally 1540nm wavelength laser that emit fractional energy 800 microns to 1600 microns into the skin. All my patients have switched over from Fraxel to the Affirm, They all agree that the Affirm is far more comfortable than the Fraxel and that is even when using BOTH lasers at once and they all tell me that the results are far superior. There is no blue gel, (no gel at all), it is extremely effective, and only takes 10-15 minutes and there is no downtime at all except 2-24 hours of redness and you can wear make up the very next morning and there is very little (if any redness) to cover. For extremely deep scars I will opt to use my Fractional CO2 laser or my non fractional CO2 laser . The downtime on those is 2-5 days on the former and significantly longer on the latter (ie. non-fractional) (that time depending on the severity of the condition and how much energy I use.
