I had moderate to severe cystic acne on my cheeks. It started about 6 months after I had my Mirena inserted. I tried topicals (Aczone, dapsone) and minocycline. Admittedly I wasn’t very patient with this regimen and the dapsone Initial breakout was enough to make me quit using it. I got put on 100mg spironolactone, 50mg twice daily. For months I was frustrated by no results. I kept reading that it took time but I would cry at night and feel so self conscious about the way my skin looked. 5 months in, I started seeing DRAMATIC changes. The acne cleared up significantly but there was still a lot of redness and scarring. From there it only got better. I’m 8 months in, not using any topicals or antibiotics, and my skin is clearer than ever. I do have scarring from the cystic acne and will get lasers if it doesn’t improve in the next 6 months. But I no longer break out and any little bumps on my forehead/ chin have cleared. I never thought I’d be able to not wear foundation (HEAVY) during the day or even out at night until now. I’m so thankful!!!! Please give it a try and be patient if you have hormonal acne. I also switched to 1 100mg pill only at night and no longer deal with the diuretic effects. Good luck!
have talked to the office manager in Hillsborough regarding my dissatisfaction with my visit AND results. I sent text messages with pictures after my visit. It wasn’t until I called the call center and demanded to speak to an actual person at Hillsborough that I actually spoke to a person. This establishment is a chop shop booking as many as possible and does NOT care about the individuals needs, which is evident by the high volume of people waiting in the waiting rooms. I paid for a service. It has been well over a month and the hyperplasia is still there. My visit was very rushed. I am not exaggerating when I say I do not think she spent more than 3 minutes in the room. I followed instructions of keeping clean, yet days after one of the bumps became infected. I made a virtual appt with another provider within Schweiger and she prescribed antibiotics. I also shared with her my dissatisfaction with my visit. I can not and will not in good conscious recommend any of my friends to your establishment. I paid over 800. And my face still has the same bumps.
I really dislike writing negative reviews. However, being honest here is the right thing to do, so no one has to go through what I did. Life is way too short. After my procedure, I looked animated and quite frankly, the worst I have ever looked. The PA who performed my procedure was pretty and sweet, so I really wanted to like the result. After she finished, she complimented me and the result of her work too much, it was not necessarily suspicious, but it seemed she was doing it more for herself than me. She gave me prednisone to take right away and some to take home, so I was a little concerned. As I healed, I only became more upset and my family wanted to kill me. I waited it out as long as I could, hoping it would go down, but I spent months hiding behind my hair, and avoiding eye contact. I finally ended up going to a board certified plastic surgeon at a different practice who I trust to correct/reverse my result and fix my face. Which, to my relief, he did! The PA’s and doctors may do other procedures well at Schweiger Dermatology, but unfortunately no such luck for me.
