I’m 38, just had a baby, and am looking to refresh my complexion. I’ve struggled with persistent, mild to moderate acne since my late teens. Although my skin got better in my 30’s, it flared up again during my pregnancy. I am specifically concerned with acne scarring, sun damage, fine lines, under the skin congestion and the overall dull appearance of my skin. I’m really hoping this peel will help even out my skin tone, purge my skin of the underlying acne and help with the sun spots and fine lines. I’m planning on doing 3 of the Perfect Peels (about 1 a month) with facials and microdermabrasion in between. Updated on 16 Oct 2018: Day 1: This is the application day. I went in to Ruth Swissa’s clinic and everyone was so welcoming. Mila, the esthetician, helped answer all my questions and concerns. In the treatment room, I put on a robe and laid down on the facial table. The room was very clean and comfortable. The vibe is similar to a spa. Mila evaluated my skin and prepared it by cleansing. She then vigorously rubbed it with the solution and gauze. She gave me a fan to hold, but my skin didn’t burn at all, like it can with glycolic (and probably other) peels. She offered to apply sunscreen (which I declined, as it was a rainy day and I was going straight home). The whole process took about 30 minutes total. My face looked sort of sunburned/tanned afterwards. I was given a box containing 2 towelettes, a cleanser packet, cortisone post-peel moisturizer and sunscreen. I left the peel on for 7 hours and washed it gently with cool water and Ruth’s Swissa’s “Gentle Cleanser” at night. I didn’t apply the lotion, because my skin felt comfortable. Day 2: No peeling yet! My skin feels a little tight and looks slightly sunburned/orangey. In the morning I wash my face and use the first towelette. I’m orange again! For some people, this might actually look good, but I’m pretty pale and it looks a bit strange. I’m glad I didn’t plan any outings for today! Second towelette is applied in the evening, followed by a small amount of the post peel lotion on a couple of itchy / dry-feeling areas. Day 3: Slight peeling today. I cleanse gently and use the post-peel moisturizing lotion on a few spots a couple of times during the day. In the evening, after cleansing, I don’t apply anything. Hoping for lots of peeling action tomorrow! Day 4: Quite a lot of peeling today! :) I am refraining from peeling it off, which is hard for me! Instead I gently cleanse, apply the post-peel moisturizing lotion and go about my day, trying not to look in the mirror. The key for me is not looking at it, or I will want to peel it off! I can already see some improvements in my skin, most notably, my nose. There are some sun spots that have faded significantly and the pores look smaller. Can’t wait to see the final results of this peel in a few days! Updated on 17 Oct 2018: Here is a picture of what I looked like when I woke up this morning. Lots of peeling! It feels a bit tight and itchy, but the moisturizer helps a lot. I look a little more red in the photo because of the lighting in my bathroom. (it was still dark outside!) Updated on 27 Oct 2018: I've had a wonderful experience at Ruth Swissa's for both facials and my first Perfect Derma Peel. (Please see my profile for a detailed review on the peel). Ruth, Mila and the entire staff are so lovely and helpful. Ruth truly has a passion for skin and loves sharing it with her clients. The products and services she offers are tried and true. She and Mila have been my skincare "coaches" and have really helped transform my troubled skin. I never thought I would get compliments on my complexion, but thanks to Ruth Swissa, I do! This place is a hidden gem. I look forward to getting eyebrow and lip permanent makeup soon and reviewing both on RealSelf. Updated on 6 Nov 2018: Really pleased with the final results of the first peel. Looking forward to doing it again in a month or two! Updated on 6 Nov 2018:
