Lack of Transparency and Concern for Patients Distress About Outcomes

I had a septorhinoplasty with Dr. Yazgan at this clinic. Before my surgery, I was not informed that grafts might be used as part of the procedure. I was also advised that I could resume dancing six weeks after surgery. During my consultation, I emphasized that I liked my natural appearance and would consider non-surgical options like Botox or fillers instead. I mentioned that my main goal was to correct a minor irregularity from a past bike accident so that my nose looked straight from a specific angle in photos. I asked for subtle improvement without major changes. The doctor mentioned the possibility of adjusting the tip, but I made it clear that I liked its current position, especially when smiling. I was told my nose would follow the “natural line,” and that if any lifting occurred, it would settle back to its original position. I declined additional procedures that were proposed during the consultation. After surgery, I was very distressed when I saw my initial photos. The nose appeared smaller and shorter than expected. When I expressed concern, I was told that my previous nose was “too long” for my face. I hoped the appearance would improve after swelling went down, but several months later, I was still unhappy with the result. I sought multiple professional opinions and was advised that the structure had been significantly altered, including reduction of cartilage. I later learned from a clinic representative that a graft had been placed, which had not been previously discussed with me. When I shared feedback with the clinic, I felt my concerns were not acknowledged to my satisfaction. I also received an email requesting that I remove my review, which made me uncomfortable. In my opinion, every clinic has the potential to deliver both positive and negative outcomes. However, transparency before surgery and respectful communication after are extremely important - sadly that wasn't my experience. I hope sharing my personal experience helps others ask detailed questions and ensure full understanding of any procedure before proceeding.
