I’m very happy with my PRP treatments with h Dr Gilmore to address my hair health! Thank you! I visit the Ann Arbor Location and everyone is very attentive and kind. I’ve also signed up to do a hand filler and am excited to see the results as our hands can show our age and well I’m trying to be my best at every age.

Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff

Jozelyn is great and is extremely knowledgeable. She does a great job every time! I have also had one other person and had a good experience with her as well. The office is clean and everyone is extremely welcome. I highly recommend.

Skin refresh - loved the quick onset of this product

My skin was looking a little dull and this mom needed a refresh. I had a Hydrafacial with Nadia and my skin looked great and glowing. I also tried to Jeuveau for the first and loved the quick onset of this product. Jocelyn did a great job. I am so happy.

3 Q&A

Q: Kybella hard egg like lump. Is this normal?
Answered by Dr. GilmoreOctober 6, 2018

A: Immediately after the Kybella injections, you can expect swelling. This is because Kybella is a product that completely destroys the fats cells. It causes the cells to burst open spilling their contents. Your bodies immune cells spring into action to clean it up. First you see swelling right away, then it organizes, gets firm, this is still part of this clean up and disposal process. The initial swelling typically lasts about 4-7 days, then the firm or lumpy phase can last 4-6 weeks. I typically schedule the second Kybella session at 6 weeks to allow enough time for this phase to resolve, and explain ahead of time that these are all common and anticipated responses to the treatment.

Q: Is it best to perform a chemical peel a few weeks before or a few weeks after a microneedling treatment?
Answered by Dr. GilmoreSeptember 8, 2018

A: We frequently advise Microneedling and Chemical Peel regimens as an excellent maintenance regimen. It is also a great post summer clean up series to help tackle advancing sun damage and premature aging. The treatments work well for texture, pores, fine lines, superficial dead skin cells and superficial pigment. I advise starting with a chemical peel and then having their micro needling session 3 weeks following, and then 3 weeks after, the next chemical peel, continuing these intervals for a series of three each and then depending on their particular needs advise their ongoing intervals for micro needling and or chemical peels. For example, acne and acne scars regimen would continue with chemical peels and micro needling.

Q: Best laser/treatment for scarring on African American skin? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. GilmoreSeptember 8, 2018

A: Individuals with darker complexions, such as asians, hispanics, and those of african ancestry, can experience dark spots following injury or inflammation. Inflammation can be from acne, bug bites, or from a itching or a rash. Because of this tendency in some to develop the darkened areas, caution in selection the right treatments must be exercised. Traditional lasers that use heat injury in the skin to lift abnormal pigment, not only heats the dark spot, but an area surrounding the spot, and can worsen the condition or cause additional or new darkened spots.  Newer techniques and strategies which we have found to be very successful is to use devices which generate and incite less heat into the tissue, but can still target the dark spot.  In laser technology today, that is found in the Picosecond Lasers. Specifically fractionated picosecond pico laser treatments. They allow the laser pulse to be delivered many fractions of a second faster to the spot, meaning less time for heat to sit on the skin. So the treatment quickly and precisely can hit the target with less risk for collateral damage.  Being a safer treatment, it will go more slowly overall, meaning having more sessions for a more significant improvement in appearance. But safety is always first. Another alternative treatment to Fractionated Picosecond Laser is Microneedling which will also require several sessions for maximal benefit.
