Dr. Hamawy was a combat trauma surgeon in the U.S. Army, served a tour of duty in Iraq, and his experience with combat casualties is what led him to pursue plastic surgery. There was an intense need not only to save lives but also to restore them to look and feel normal, which attracted him to the meticulous attention to detail required to achieve optimal wellness, not just of the body but of the mind as well. After almost a decade in the military and shaped by these unique and varied experiences, Dr. Hamawy trained with some of the foremost surgeons in the world. He first completed a residency in general surgery at Cornell’s New York Presbyterian Hospital and later pursued further specialization as a plastic surgeon at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Hamawy is dedicated to the pursuit of youth and beauty. His unique experience allows him to blend the most recent advances in plastic surgery with the cutting edge of anti-aging medicine, including both male and female hormone replacement therapy and the latest medical weight loss techniques. Turned out wonderful and I'm beyond happy with my results

I had such a good experience with Dr Hamaway. The only thing slightly negative I could say is it felt like he would rush during post-op visits and didn't answer questions I had very clearly. But, he was very friendly and reassuring. I had a labiaplasty and was extremely nervous for the procedure. Turned out wonderful and I'm beyond happy with my results. Also his staff is AMAZING. Phenomenal Experience, would return if I ever decide to get another procedure done

I had gynecomastia reduction and gland removal surgery done by Dr. Hamaway and couldn't be more satisfied with the result. I decided to have the procedure done at his office after the initial consultation and couldn't be happier with the results. Communication via email and phone was quick and everyone working in the office was extremely helpful. The surgery itself lasted about 2 hours under...

Q: My deep plane neck lift has failed. Can the submandibular gland be removed to get a better result? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. HamawyNovember 22, 2023

A: Plastic surgeons possess several tools to address neck definition and facial aging comprehensively. Achieving the most natural and optimal results involves a strategic combination of these tools. Even extensive deep plane facelifts only address certain structures such as the SMAS tissue and muscle but completely ignores deeper structures such as the bone and submandibular gland. In your specific case, I would recommend a blend of multiple modalities to restore the structural integrity of your lower face, reinstating the definition that is presently lacking. Structureal volumization to accentuate the angles of your jaw is probably all you need. If necessary this can be supplemented with a suture suspension of the soft tissue of the neck including the submandibular gland although based on the photos above, that does not look like it is necessary. Unlike the deep plane lift these procedures can be executed in an office setting within a span of approximately 30-60 minutes.

Q: 50 year old man with neck laxity, particularly when looking down. Looking for advice re: options, if any (Photo)
Answered by Dr. HamawyNovember 22, 2023

A: Plastic surgeons have several techniques to comprehensively address neck laxity. Achieving the most natural and optimal results involves a strategic combination beyond a mere choice between a facelift or necklift. Even these terms encompass various procedures ranging from office-based minilifts to extensive deep plane facelifts. In your specific case, I would recommend a blend of multiple modalities to restore the structural integrity of your lower face, reinstating the definition that is presently lacking. This holistic approach may involve skin tightening through Renuvion helium plasma technology, mini liposculpting of the lower face and neck, suture suspension the underlying neck muscles, and structural volumization of the lower jaw that are currently less defined to give you a more masculine jawline and neck. Remarkably, most of the time these procedures together can be executed in an office setting within a span of approximately 60-90 minutes.

Q: Age 42, strange mound of skin/fat, not interested in fillers as a fix
Answered by Dr. HamawyNovember 21, 2023

A: Plastic surgeons possess an array of techniques to address facial aging comprehensively. Achieving the most natural and optimal results involves a strategic combination of these tools. The process is intricate, extending beyond a mere choice between a facelift or fillers. Even these terms encompass various facelift types, ranging from office-based minilifts to extensive deep plane facelifts. Unfortunately, fillers have acquired a negative reputation due to their misuse and overuse. However, when administered judiciously, they can yield remarkable outcomes. In your specific case, I would recommend a blend of multiple modalities to restore the structural integrity of your lower face, reinstating the definition that is presently lacking. This holistic approach may involve skin tightening through Renuvion helium plasma technology, mini liposculpting, the firming of underlying neck and facial muscles, and augmentation to accentuate the angles that are currently less defined. Remarkably, these procedures can be executed in an office setting without leaving visible scars and all a span of approximately 60-90 minutes.

Q: Will a facelift help minimize the appearance of wrinkles on the cheeks? (photo)
Answered by Dr. HamawyNovember 21, 2023

A: Yes, these lines will get better but not completely disappear. A facelift primarily targets sagging or drooping skin on the lower face and neck by tightening the underlying tissues. This can improve the appearance of jowls and better define the jawline however, its effectiveness in addressing wrinkles on the surface, especially when you smile hard (like in the photo provided) might be limited. Facelifts are not specifically designed to target fine lines or wrinkles that are more apparent with animation like smiling and laughing. To directly address these wrinkles on the sides of the face, the facelift should be supplemented with a resurfacing treatment such laser therapy or a chemical peel. I would also suggest Botox or equivalent neuromodulator to soften the lines around the eyes as well. Plastic surgeons have several tools that when combined together can give you the most optimal results.

Q: Is TriSculpt Micro-LaserLipo the same as Smart Lipo?
Answered by Dr. HamawyDecember 5, 2019

A: The real answer is… Nothing much. Both are branded names for what essentially is laser assisted liposuction. Smart Lipo is the brand name for One of the laser devices that is used.  The Trisculpt Micro LaserLipo is the branded procedure name used by a body contouring company called Sonobello, but basically they are also using the same Smartlipo laser machines that are made by Cynosure  essentially these names are just marketing gimmick’s to make them stand out. Laser assisted liposuction, no matter what it is called, essentially uses a laser to generate heat under the skin that both melts the fat and helps produce collagen that can tight in the overlying skin to a degree.  most plastic surgeons who perform the procedure also combined a power assisted liposuction to help break up the fat and generate a more even, smoother contour before sucking the fat out.  The different names can often be confusing because they sound like different procedures. What truly is important is not the devices or the name but the surgeon who is going to give you a proper assessment and can recommend a variety of options and tailor  the correct one for you.  I strongly recommend that one does not shop for a specific procedure but instead should be seeking a specific result or outcome and find the right surgeon that can get this for you.
