A Thanks for your question, jamiemh. Microneedling is safe while breastfeeding if your provider is using a pure hyaluronic gliding medium and are not using any products after the treatment that have retinols. Microneedling can be tolerable without numbing cream depending on the patient's pain tolerance and the depth of the needles/aggressiveness of the treatment. We perform microneedling on some of our patients without numbing cream and, while it is less comfortable than with the cream, the discomfort has been tolerable. Have your provider speak with the pharmacist who mixes their numbing cream to determine if it is safe for lactating women.
Best wishes!
