My Nose Doesn't Look Any Different from Before my Rhinoplasty? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding early changes in Rhinoplasty surgery. This is a common enough concern and any surgeon who does not keep a patient prepared for the natural course of a rhinoplasty outcome, both before and after surgery, is missing an important opportunity to communicate and reassure their patient. Sharing such course from the previous examples is very useful. I would expect changes in the Nasal Dorsum and see how it looks at 6, 12 and 18 months ... As I would say to my patients after 11 days ... The Healing Process is just about getting ready ... has not really started yet ... Best Wishes !

Will a Septoplasty straighten my nose from outside? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi Sananaraja,
That is n interesting and a common question asked in my NoseClinic. The crux of the matter is if the nasal septum alone is deviated or if there is bony deviation too. At a detailed level I would study the face especially the eyes the lips and how the nose sits vertically between these.

Is a closed rhinoplasty price different from an open?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question and sharing your reasonable doubts !

Most good Rhinoplasty surgeons nowadays are just that ... good Rhinoplasty surgeons consistently achieving safe predictable  satisfying results. The patients should be informed of the implications of the two techniques and in case of an open approach it would be a good idea to show a range of the columellar scars in your hands. It would also be a good idea to have the flexibility of rarely changing between the two approaches if it is considered to be better for the patient. There is no reason for a cost difference between the two approaches as long as a surgeon achieves. consistently good outcomes through the approach of their choice.

Regarding suboptimal correction ... that may happen through either approach.

I hope that helps.

Best !

Opposite side blocked - Post Septoplasty Surgery - Advice? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Nasal Blockage after Septo-plasty or Rhinoplasty are typically due to a Physical blockage (Residual deviation of the Nasal septum, Residual posterior spurs, Internal Nasal Valve compromise and rarely adhesions in modern Rhinology) or Physiological blockage ( Rhinitis based). Inferior Turbinate hypertrophy can be obstructive in early months but always resolves without intervention in my experience. I would evaluate this present Clinical situation with a CT Scan of Nose and PNS and a Sinuscopy with detailed photo documentation with and without decongestive treatment at the same sitting. A surgeon trained in Nasal Surgery can usually diagnose and predict need for further intervention and success.

Feeling Something Hard Inside my Left Nostril After Rhinoplasty?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi Christelle

I appreciate that the Immediate post-operative period after a Rhinoplasty is an anxious time but you should not touch any parts or stitches before you see your surgeon on Monday. My guess and hope is that it is a harmless dried nasal secretion crust that may have no long-term implications.

Best wishes
