2nd hair transplant to gin more coverage and lower the hairline little bit more for more youthful look , all i well so far in recovery , cut from same donor tea so i still only have long line in the back which is great
Hello. My name is Avaya. I’m 32. I have no Cons with experience. Wish I would have done it sooner. The process was simple enough. The only part I didn’t like was the “pricking” because of the sound it made. I have no regrets! I no longer have a big forehead. Can’t wait to see myself in 1 year Updated on 24 Jan 2019: Updated on 7 Mar 2019: Loving the results. I can’t wait until the new hairs catch up with the rest of my hair. I can grip the hairs and plat from the donor site. I just start using rice water to help speed along the growth. It’s working too. Updated on 16 Mar 2019: AWESOME!!! Couldn't be more happier with my results. Dr. Blumenthal. He comes highly recommended from me. So caring, gentle, kept me calm. He performed my procedure at their Bethesda, Maryland location. Loving my new hair. I've always had a huge forehead and now I have a average size melon :) BTW I am of African American descent. They know what their doing over @ Natural Hair Transplant. They have 2 locations. Ft. Lauderdale Florida and Bethesda, MD Check out my review pictures @ Avaya on Realself Updated on 24 Aug 2019: I wear ponytails now. Something I’ve never done before. The only con I have is that during this regrow this phase people have asked me if I have on a lace front wig because my hairline is so darn perfect! I wish I would have created some unevenness along my hairline. When it grows back longer I sure that I can manipulate that issue. But other than that I’m glad I did it and wish i had done it years ago.
The staff At natural transplants was amazing. I was so nervous but they made me feel so comfortable. Everything seems to be growing out great. I am 9 days postop. This surgery was so worth it I can’t even explain to you. If you are thinking about doing this and are nervous, do not hesitate. It is absolutely worth it even just from what I’ve seen so far. I will keep everyone updated as much as I can. I felt nothing and was in no pain the entire procedure. I was only a little uncomfortable after. Nothing worse than a small headache. Everything felt back to normal after one day. Updated on 26 Jan 2019: I love how it has turned out. It's only at 60% of what It's going to be. I will continue posting updates. 7 months post op. Updated on 26 Jan 2019: Updated on 27 May 2019: It has been almost a year now and my hair is basically as full as it’s going to be. Obviously it will be longer but the thickness is going to stay the same. I am so glad that I did this! I have had many cosmetic procedures done and this is by far the best decision I have ever made. I would not take it back for anything. It has changed my whole facial shape. People that I haven’t seen in awhile keep saying I look different and they can’t figure out why. I keep hearing things like "wow you look so good". It is a such a great feeling. It has absolutely changed my life and my confidence for good. Updated on 27 May 2019:
Smoking CAN affect a hair transplant but does not necessarily mean it WILL ruin it. The nicotine in the cigarettes causes constriction of the blood flow throughout the body and can therefore affect the blood supply to the grafts. If you are young and otherwise healthy perhaps the nicotine did not affect the blood vessels enough to cause much of a problem. And who knows, perhaps the results would have been even better if you had not smoked? Be thankful it worked well despite the smoking. And of course, smoking can cause a host of other medical problems including lung cancer as I'm sure you know. I hope this helps.
Although it must have been scary, I doubt the rigorous washing 11 days postop wold have done any damage to the grafts. Typically the grafts are secure by day 4 and although I wouldn't advice being too aggressive, by 11 days postop the grafts are probably pretty safe. Hopefully it will turn out ok. Good luck!
It takes a full 12 months for the hair to grow after a transplant. You are only at 8 months and I have lots of nervous patients calling at 8 months asking the same question. You actually look right on track for 8 months (assuming there wasn't much there to begin with) so try to be patient and have faith. It will not be as thick or as full as your native hair behind the transplant but it will definately be thicker than the current density. I know it can be difficult as I have had the procedure myself. I hope this helps...good luck?
I never talk bad about other doctors, but to answer your question, in my opinion there does not appear to be 2500 grafts placed in the frontal hairline area. Perhaps they performed 2500 FUE punches to the donor site; perhaps half were not viable or good quality follicles, and perhaps they only placed the 1000 or so that were viable but it does not look like 2500 grafts are placed in that small area in the frontal hairline.
This can be a very slow and nervous process; I know as I have done the procedure myself as well. It takes a full 12 months for the hair to fully grow in and for some even a little longer. So, you have only gotten half way and most of the hair growth occurs in the 2nd half so you have lots of time for growth. Unfortunately, the hair growth is not uniform and consistent. It grows in inconsistent and patchy which can be frustrating. Have faith and patience and you will have much better results in 6 months. Whether or not you want another procedure depends on your expectations and desires. It looks like you have very thick hair behind the transplanted area. In patients like yourself I often will counsel them that even with very good transplant results, the transplanted density will not be as thick as your native hair density and you may want a second procedure (a 2nd coat of paint as I call it) in the same area to double the density so the density matches your native hair density better. Even with good results from the transplant I would anticipate you will want a 2nd procedure as most young men want thick hair at the front of their hairline. I hope this help...good luck!
