Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Dr. Markmann pursued his academic journey, earning a bachelor of arts degree in biology from LaSalle University and a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Following the attainment of his degrees, Dr. Markmann embarked on his medical career, completing his internship and residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Additionally, he underwent two fellowships specializing in plastic surgery at John Hopkins University in Baltimore and Rush University. Dr. Markmann maintains active membership in various esteemed plastic surgery societies, including the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the John Staige Davis Society of Plastic Surgeons of Maryland. A: It's very tough to tell what the problem is from this picture. You may have had a Hematoma that resulted in Scar tissue and a bump. Or... You may have had some Fat Necrosis causing an indentation and Scar tissue. The fix for this problem will depend on that the real issue is. If it is scar tissue from an old hematoma causing a bump, Steroid shots may help or you may need that lump removed. If it is scar tissue causing the dent, then Subcision may be able to release the scar tissue bands causing the dent. This might also require fat grafting if the scar release alone does not fix this problem. Good Luck
A: It is very tough for me to know what the cause of this pain is since I didn't do your surgery. The best thing to do is discuss with your surgeon. Your pain may be due to the stitches used to repair diastasis recti, that is, if you had this done. ? Do you have a bulge there? It could be a hernia. ? The best thing to do is see your surgeon and have them examine you. Good Luck!
A: Fortunately, Breast Augmentation is a very low blood loss procedure. There is nothing you can do to improve this situation in less than a week. You should discuss this with your surgeon and PCP as to whether they think you should proceed or postpone.
A: Trans Axillary Breast Augmentation was very common in the past. It still is done, but it has been shown to have a higher Capsular Contracture rate just like the Circum Areolar approach. The safest technique is through the crease beneath the breast. Also, most implants are placed under the muscle which lowers the capsular contracture rate, makes mammograms better and minimizes the risk of drooping. Sub Facial, Trans Ax would be tough and higher risk. Definitely not my recommendation.
A: Wow! I'm so sorry to see and hear about what you went through! That is horrible! Fortunately, I do believe this can be made better. Not perfect, but better. Normally, I try to put the Tummy Tuck scar as low as possible so it is hidden under skimpy bikinis. Unfortunately, you are going to have a scar up to your belly button. It appears that the skin of your upper abdomen and sides is pretty tight. Weight loss may help relax this so that it can be pulled down to cover the missing tissue. It can likely be pulled down a little at your current weight, which would help reduce the defect, but not close it. It also appears that your pubic skin remains rather loose. This can easily be pulled up, maybe even all of the way to your belly button or at least close, allowing my to entirely close the wound/defect! This however, would leave you with pubic hair up to your bellybutton. Fortunately, this is an easy fix for this! Laser hair removal. Good Luck to you!
