Background Information: I'm 5'4" 125 lbs and do yoga 2x week.Three years ago I weighed 110lbs (I was technically underweight). I then gained 30 lbs in one year due to depression. I finally got back into yoga & changed my diet to a vegetarian one but still struggled with the extra pudge in my midsection. The way the extra weight packed on in my midsection was unflattering. My flanks were pudgy and I was battling a muffin top. Prior to my depression and weight gain, I never had an hour glass figure but more of a square midsection. It just didn't look bad because I was "tight". After my depression and weight gain, everything kinda just started to look and feel bleh. I depended on high rise jeans to conceal my muffin top. I lost a lot of confidence because I was stuck with a body that didn't feel like mine. So... I researched Coolsculpting & local providers for about two months before deciding on Levy Dermatology. The real decision maker for me was the fact that they have two Coolsculpting machines which means they provide a service called Dual Sculpting. Dual Sculpting is the process of having two areas treated simultaneously for shorter appointment times. Instead of two areas back to back at 30 minutes a pieces, you can do both areas at the same time for 30 minutes. Since I'm a busy gal this really spoke to me. The day of my appointment the office was steady. I was greeted by the receptionists who were sufficiently nice. Really, my only complaint is that the staff is not accustomed to interacting with people of color (I'm Latina). I filled out some paperwork and waited about 10 minutes before Lauren, my CoolSculpting technician, took me back to the treatment room. The room was nice & clean. We started by reviewing paperwork & addressing concern areas & expectations. THIS IS SOOOO IMPORTANT! On top of researching providers. I also researched Coolsculpting itself & read a number of reviews. I felt that this benefitted me significantly because through that process I was able to form realistic expectations of what the process, aftercare and results would be like. I highly recommend anyone considering Coolsculpting do the same. Coolsculpting although noninvasive, is still pricey. I had four areas treated, both flanks and abdominals. The cost was about 2700. After reviewing paperwork, concern areas , and expectations, Lauren used a template & permanent marker to mark the areas to be targeted. We then took "before" photos of my midsection. I was given a comfy skirt robe to cover my bottom section during photos and treatment. Finally! Treatment time. Lauren applied jelly barrier strips to the treatment areas before applying the Coolsculpting suction paddles. The jelly strips are used to prevent damage to the skin. Through my research I was alarmed to know that not every provider uses them. Since I chose Dual Sculpting I had one flank and the opposite abdominal worked on simultaneously for 30 minutes & then switched paddles. After the 30 minutes of suction, Lauren did a two minute massage on each section. This is the most uncomfortable part of the process. It truly hurts & you kinda have to just clench and bare it. I know that sounds scary but once it's done. You won't remember it. This massage is crucial to having good results. Again, not every provider does this either. After treatment I was a touch sore for about a week, which is common. I'm three months post treatment & very happy with my results. I definitely see & feel the full 25% reduction of fat in the treated areas. However, I am planning to do another round of treatment for additional definition in my midsection. Overall, my experience with Levy Dermatology has been great! I'm so excited to go back and see Lauren for round two. This reviewer received a gift card from RealSelf in exchange for their review.
