I don't know why I waited so long. This procedure was incredibly simple (for me), and the results are life-changing. Dr. Poucher is a great doctor and an even better human being. Her office staff made me feel totally comfortable and they explained everything in detail. You are wide awake and watching a movie the whole time! Q: Can I redo a hymenoplasty if the repaired hymen breaks accidentally for some reason?
Answered by Dr. PoucherFebruary 28, 2024

A: Hello.
The short answer is yes it can be repaired however to be certain an exam will need to be done to determine what type of repair would give the greatest success. An estimate of whether or not the area will bleed when torn after repair would be determined by the surgeon. Typically hymen repairs done properly have a 95% success rate of bleeding. Best wishes!

Q: How long after hymenoplasty is refraining from physical activity recommended?
Answered by Dr. PoucherFebruary 1, 2024

A: Following hymenoplasty, it is important to allow the delicate tissue to heal unimpeded as long as possible. I advise my patients to avoid any strenuous activity for at least 2 weeks but it takes 6 weeks for the tissue to fully heal so the longer the patient takes it easy the better chance for a successful outcome. Keep in mind the hymen tissue is fragile so even following 6 weeks of healing some activities can cause the tissue to break down.
I hope this helps.

Q: Already had posterior repair surgery. Can a perineoplasty be done separately?
Answered by Dr. PoucherDecember 30, 2023

A: Hello.

The short answer is yes. Typically it is best to wait about 6 months to have the second procedure but it can be done and assuming there were no complications or issues with the posterior repair (and depending on its location) it would be a straight forward procedure. Please be aware that it is best to have it performed by a surgeon experienced specifically in aesthetic vagina surgery and or in perineoplasty.
Best wishes to you.

Q: What should I ask for to look normal? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. PoucherNovember 25, 2023

A: Hello Amber Smiles.

I am so sorry for your child hood experiences and for your subsequent surgical management. After reviewing your photos I can tell you surgical procedures to improve the overall appearance and function of your labia can help. Given the amount of scar tissue and holes and displacement of tissue it should be a 2-3 step process involving removal of tissue, adjusting placement of tissue and laser resurfacing. Please be certain to seek out at least 3 in person consultations with highly qualified labiaplasty revision surgeons prior to making a decision on who to go with.
Best wishes to you.

Q: Do I need a clitoral hood reduction? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. PoucherNovember 2, 2023

A: Hello.

There is a wide range of what is normal with labia. From you photo I can see that you have inner labia that protrude past the outer labia which is normal but if it bothers you (causes rubbing chaffing pain or discomfort) then it can be addressed. I also notice the skin appears chaffed and with a rough appearance. Again if this doesn’t cause discomfort then no worries. Should it be desired to reduce the size of the inner lips, the hood would also need reduction.
Best wishes.
