In minor case, excess overjet (dental protrusion) can be resolved with filing between teeth to make some space. However, in more severe cases, in order to obtain noticeable improvement, extraction of premolars are often necessary. To get the best result, it is important that you communicate with your orthodontist how much improvement you would like to see. This will heavily influence if extraction will be recommended.

I had braces like 8 years ago, for 1 year, (I don't even remember why but I suppose for the same reason, overbite &amp; overjet), and as I didn't wear the retainer at night I suppose my teeth came back to the wrong position over the years. I am curious about if I can fix my bite without extractions; and also if I would improve my jaw and chin and have a more forward and "V shape" face from the front like this guy ( https://imgur.com/Amn7OVb ) because if I am clean shaven I have 0 forward growth

Braces

How soon the space closes will&nbsp;depend&nbsp;on how the teeth movement was designed initially. Normally you can notice space closing after several weeks. It may not completely close but it will become less noticeable.&nbsp;

I'm doing invisalign, I'm on the second week of tray 3 and Doc had me come in for attachments and IPR and then continue wearing tray 3 for one more week before switching to tray 4. He shaved off .3mm between my top two front teeth, incisor, canine, and first premolar (on each side). The tx was to fix my overjet, crowding and my bite. I apologize, I didn't take any "before" pictures so I just included some close up's of my smile before the IPR, and then of course the aftermath.

Invisalign

It seems like your primary goal is to make room for the restoration of the implant. From a patient's perspective, I can understand that it becomes frustrating when you have to go through extensive orthodontic treatment just to get an implant done.&nbsp;With that in mind, an ideal treatment for you is a limited adjunctive treatment focusing on creating room for the implant crown rather than trying to achieve ideal occlusion entirely. This can be effectively achieved by bonding braces on lower teeth only and creating space by performing interproximal reshaping of your teeth. In addition, minor reshaping of the incisal edges may be needed to ensure adequate vertical space for he implant crown. The adjunctive orthodontic treatment should be limited to no more than 4-6 months to avoid delay in your implant crown placement. Hope everything works out for you.

Had dental implant placed on tooth #10 in oct (no healing cap/crown yet). Considering Invisalign due to teeth shifting. went to 2 orthodontists, one told me he would have to widen both upper/lower dental arch to create space and recommend crown placement after Invisalign. second orthodontist told me the only option for me is IPR to create space due to implant placement (0.3 mm from 2-3 teeth on bottom). I was wondering who should I go with?

If the aligners are not fitting from the very beginning, it is likely either due to distortion during the initial record or a distortion during the manufacturing process.&nbsp;Invisalign does provide a warranty fit and your doctor can request remake of the first 2-3 aligners to see if the same distortion problem persists. If the fit is good for the new aligners, then you know the problem is in the manufacturing. If the new aligners have the same distortion, then you can rule out manufacturing defect and conclude that a distortion occurred during the records process and a new impression/scan has to be made.&nbsp;

I'm on my 9th day, using my 1st aligner. From the beginning the aligner on my lower teeth had a bad fit. It fits firmly on my premolars/molars but about 3-5 mm above my lateral and central incisors. In order to fit it; the lower tray has a jagged edge on the inside and is ''warped''. My teeth have moved in the wrong direction I think. My major concern is that tray #2 will NOT fit on my lower teeth at all, which did at first. Could this be due to a bad teeth impression or aligner print out ?

Sometimes if the current aligner does not seem to be fitting, it is an indicating that teeth have not moved as much as the aligner is designed to. In this case, going back a few aligners may be required. A weekly cycle is not an uncommon practice and is often done by many orthodontists. Teeth don't always follow the movement of the aligners 100% and often times a refinement (new impression and new set of aligners) is needed to get to ideal result.&nbsp;

I recently completed 34 trays of Invisalign treatment. My orthodontist is satisfied with the result of my lower teeth, however he feels that the bite of my upper teeth has not moved sufficiently. He has advised me to go backwards in my tray (i.e. 2 weeks of 33, 2 weeks 32 etc) and now has me changing trays once a week. Is this standard practice? Will it reverse the movement of my teeth thus far?
