Voluma
Q Why have I seen no results at all after 2 syringes of Voluma in each cheek?
A

Hello, I am sorry that you have not seen a change with your treatment of Voluma.  Did your practitioner take before and after pictures? If so, have you reviewed them yet?

Usually, if injected correctly, you would see a profound difference after 4 syringes.  Injections should be done directly above the cheekbone and small amounts are deposited directly on top of your cheek bone (down to the periostium).  A small amount of massaging post treatment is done and you see visible results IMMEDIATELY. I always tell my patients that they will feel/look somewhat "angular", "sharp" , or "Avitarish" directly after their injections but that softens up within 10 days time and the results are soft, pliable, enhanced cheeks.

Your unhappiness with your treatment could be a result of injections in the apple of the cheek where there is already fullness and therefore, you do not see a change.

I hope this has helped.

Botox
Q Why do I have a 7 day reaction each time with a neuromodulator?
A

Hello, It is unfortunate that you have had these problems with a neuro-modulator injection.  However, all auto-immune disorders/diseases are definitely contra-indicated for ANY neuro-modulator injection. Did your previous practitioner ask you about your medical history on their intake form?

That being said, filler, hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies; therefore, you should not be having any reaction to this kind of injection. Unless of course your are allergic to Lidocaine in which case a syringe of filler can be ordered for you without the Lidocaine additive. If you have a dynamic line (one that can be seen without facial animation) in the glabella region, it can most definitely be filled with Volbella - a very light weight filler.

Because your health is so very important, I urge you to discuss the aforementioned problem with your doctor and then if he/she agrees that a filler treatment would be all right for you to use, in light of the auto-immune problem, then have them write that on an Rx pad and bring it to your injector to place in your patient chart.

I hope this has been helpful for you.

Dermal Fillers
Q Can two different hyaluronic acid fillers make problems if injected at different periods in the same area?
A

Hi Mallory, different fillers are used for different clinical indications, so yes, different fillers can be used in your face at the same time. Most fillers come in the amount of 1ml or 0.5ml. Again, the amount and placement of each filler depends on the clinical indication of each.
