This 51-year old woman underwent left mastectomy for her breast cancer. She wanted a single stage procedure and was content with the size and shape of her right breast, and did not want anything done to that side. She was adamant in not having implants placed and preferred to use her own body tissue. She opted for a left DIEP free flap breast reconstruction, which used her excess skin and soft tissue of her lower belly without any disruption of her muscle. After photos at one year demonstrate a soft, supple, and naturally-appearing and feel of her reconstructed breast. She has no functional deficit at her abdomen, since no muscle was removed and her abdominal wall integrity remained intact.
