Patients who have a short chin often have deep creases in the chin. This appearance of the skin of the chin is called "peau d'orange" (skin of the orange). It is caused by the chronic tightening of the muscles of the chin, and can be helped with periodic injections of botulinum toxin, in this case Botox. While a chin implant will give a better overall size and profile to the chin, it does not eliminate the changes in the skin. With this 30 year old young lady, the Botox relaxed the muscles dramatically and even improved the profile of the chin by decreasing the downward pull of the muscles.
