This young woman came to our office because she was unhappy with the appearance of her breasts. She did not like the sag that she had developed and was tired of wearing push up bras. She wished to have her breasts made more perky and fuller but yet natural. The preoperative photographs show changes that commonly occurred in breasts after pregnancies. Ptosis, or sag can develop with loss of breast volume. Her nipples are down pointing, indicative of what is called third degree ptosis. Enhancement of breasts that look like this requires a two-fold approach. The volume lost can be restored with an implant, while the breasts can be lifted and re-shaped with a breast lift. This is called an augmentation mastopexy. This woman had 400 cc moderate plus profile silicone implants placed and her breasts lifted as an outpatient procedure. During this procedure, we were able to reduce of the size of her areola to make them look more proportionate and center them on the breasts. The photographs shown here are six weeks after the surgery. These scars will continue to fade and are often times inconspicuous over time. Most patients are able to get back to work within a week.
