This patient had what is called an “isolated nasal bone fracture”, meaning that the broken nose was her only injury. The nasal bone fracture was “reduced”, or repaired, within 10 days of her injury via a closed, or “endonasal” approach, leaving no scars on the outside of the nose. Black eyes can be expected during reduction of a nasal bone fracture. These black eyes usually last 1-2 weeks. Patients can expect to wear a plastic cast on the bridge of the nose for one week after surgery.
