A Panniculectomy is a surgical procedure in which the excess skin and fat on the abdomen is removed. Not to be mistaken with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Here, only the excess skin and fat that hangs below the pubic area is removed whereas with a tummy tuck the muscles are tightened inside and the skin is pulled very tight to where it is difficult for patients to stand up straight for a week after surgery. Nothing was done to her muscles here to give her stomach a smooth appearance. If you compare this to the abdominoplasty patients, the difference is more prominent. The after photo was taken 5 months after the procedure and the scar is healing very well. It will continue to heal over time and at her year and a half mark it will look the best it possibly can.
