Nene Leakes Shares Her Liposuction and Mini BBL Procedures

Nene Leakes liposuction and mini BBL

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Nene Leakes just had plastic surgery—and shared the whole experience with her 4.2 million Instagram followers, even posting video of herself on the operating table. After being named the ambassador of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Stanley Okoro’s Georgia Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Center a few weeks ago, Leakes explained that she initially went to Dr. Okoro to consider liposuction. Their conversation ultimately led to her decision to undergo a Brazilian butt lift—but a very particular type that fit her specific desires.

“I wanted to have liposuction. I went into his office to get educated about liposuction 360. And because I felt like I had a bra roll, I said liposuction 360 would be great for me. He can do my bra roll, my stomach, and my sides. And then after that, we started talking about where we going to put this fat in that you’re taking out of my body [sic]. Everybody’s doing a BBL. I’m not a fan. At all. I like my a**. What I’d like to do though is fix problem areas. Maybe there’s a dent here, maybe there’s a spot there…so what do you call it? And he’s like, a BBL. And I said no, there has to be something else. When you say BBL, I think you’re getting ready to come out of there with a big giant booty and I just want to fix my problem areas. So we called it a…mini BBL,” the reality star said in an Instagram video.

So what exactly is a mini BBL? “It’s performed for adults looking for that conservative, mature look,” Dr. Okoro, who’s also the author of Brazilian Butt Lift: A Leading Plastic Surgeon Reveals Everything You Need to Know About Fat Transfer,  told RealSelf. “The goal of a mini BBL is not to get a bigger buttocks. It’s for those looking for a better shape. During this procedure, a small amount of fat is removed from a place with excess fat or combined with 360 liposuction to enhance the buttock and hip area.” (It’s similar to what other doctors call a skinny BBL.) According to Dr. Okoro’s RealSelf profile, he charges anywhere from $10,500 to $16,000 for a BBL.

“Nene was a great candidate for this specialized procedure because she isn’t looking to get a bigger buttocks. There were some areas she wanted filled out and contoured to meet her aesthetic desire. She was going for that classy look,” Dr. Okoro explains.

Leakes then posted another Instagram video documenting her surgery day, capturing everything from her arrival at the doctor’s office to footage of Dr. Okoro performing the procedure in the OR. She has yet to reveal her results, however, writing in an Instagram caption, “I’m almost ready to show off my new snatched look.” Given how candid she’s been about her experience up to this point, we’re willing to bet there will be plenty of content featuring her results coming soon.
