After Years of Denials, Kylie Jenner Finally Admits She Had a Breast Augmentation When She Was 19

The members of the Kadashian-Jenner clan are under nearly constant scrutiny and speculation when it comes to their evolving aesthetics. They’re also notorious for vehemently denying they’ve had plastic surgery, aside from the occasional Botox admission (even then, only “a little bit”), and Khloé copping to a rhinoplasty last year. Now the youngest of the bunch, 25-year-old Kylie Jenner, is finally admitting that she had a breast augmentation when she was 19, just months before getting pregnant with her daughter.

“You know I got my breasts done before Stormi,” Jenner told a friend on the most recent episode of The Kardashians. The revelation comes after years of Jenner saying the opposite. In a 2015 video posted on her now defunct website, she attributed her larger chest to a Victoria’s Secret push-up bra. “I don’t share this with a lot of people, but everyone thinks I’ve gotten breast augmentation recently, but I haven’t. I just use the Bombshell by Victoria’s Secret. It’s life-changing. I’ve gotten all my sisters on it and all my friends.” In another post on the website, she said weight gain was the reason for her larger breasts. “I haven’t gotten breast implants! Everyone is obsessed with that. Truth is, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve gained 15 pounds and my body has changed. I swear there are things you can do to work on problem areas without having to think about plastic surgery.” The following year, her chest size was a result of PMS. “TMI but it’s that time of the month lol,” she tweeted, when asked why her boobs looked so good. “They will deflate soon. And it will be a sad day.”

The cycle of deny, deny, deny, finally admit is exactly what happened when fans started buzzing about Jenner’s fuller lips. After years of claiming all she did was overline her lips, she finally admitted to getting filler. She later explained her decision to hide the truth in an interview with Complex: “I didn’t want to be a bad influence. I didn’t want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself. But they thought it was crazier that I was lying about it because it was so obvious. I wish I had just been honest and up-front.”

On the July 27 episode, Jenner went on to describe just how quickly she got pregnant post-breast augmentation: “within six months of having Stormi—not thinking I would have a child when I was 20—like, they were still healing.” It was a choice she now regrets. “I had beautiful breasts, like, natural tits. Just gorgeous, perfect size, perfect everything. And I just wish, obviously, I never got them done to begin with. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about it to wait until after children.”

However, according to Dr. Joseph Zakhary, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Phoenix, Arizona, “There is no required timeline to wait to get pregnant after an augmentation, given that most of the changes to the breast happen late in the pregnancy in preparation for lactation and postpartum.” And while both pregnancy and breastfeeding can change the overall appearance of the breast (whether or not there’s an implant), he says that women who get pregnant in their 20s—like Jenner—are actually less likely to experience major changes. “There are a lot of patients who have a breast augmentation and get pregnant in their 20s, but maintain their same breast aesthetic post-pregnancy because they have more dense breasts,” Dr. Zakhary explains. He also adds that, in his experience, breast augmentation regret, in general, is very minimal, even among patients who are 18 to 22.

Jenner also said she wishes she had done things differently, because of her daughter. “I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19. And she’s the most beautiful thing ever. I want to be the best mom and best example for her. And I just wish I could, like, be her and do it all differently, because I wouldn’t touch anything.”

Ironically enough, on the prior episode of the reality show, the sisters talked about their body image issues and the beauty standards they exemplify. Kylie was adamant that she’s made no surgical changes to her face: “One of the biggest misconceptions about me is that I was this insecure child and I got so much surgery to change my whole face, which is false. I’ve only gotten fillers.”  Given how things have played out, whether that’s actually the case remains to be seen.
