$8,135

When: February 2018

Where: Virginia Beach, Virginia

“My Brazilian butt lift cost $7,935, which included anesthesia, surgery, and follow-up visits. I paid for my garment, medications, pillow, and foams separately—that was around $200. I was referred to my surgeon by a close friend—she had gone to him for a mommy makeover and was thrilled with his practice and her results. The cost was definitely a factor [in choosing a doctor], but I was able to utilize my CareCredit account for the surgery and make payments over time. I don’t regret a thing, and my booty is beautiful!” —Nikki, 47

$5,400

When: May 2018

Where: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (lives in Vallejo, California)

“I had a BBL and lipo 360 done in the Dominican Republic May 3, 2018, and the cost was $5,400 all in. That included medicines, garments, a 13-day stay at a recovery house, transportation, and a 24-hour nurse for the first night after surgery. My round-trip flight cost $300.

“I went to the DR because of the overall shape I wanted. [The doctor] in the DR gives a higher, more defined shape. I felt I made a very safe decision—I checked RealSelf, various blogs, YouTube, and the local surgeon general for over two years prior to my surgery. A few friends and family members had also gone to my doctor.

“My advice would be to search for a U.S.-based coordinator because of the language barrier. Make sure you have more testing done in the U.S. for any possible infection or any concerning issue that could make you more vulnerable in another country. Research and find out everything possible about the clinic, the doctor, and the anesthesiologist—check all the credentials.

“The process was amazing and I wouldn’t change it for the world, but I’m ready for round two in February 2021. I’m scheduled for lipo 360, as well as lipo of the chin, arms, inner thighs, and chest. I’m planning on getting my surgery in Miami. I’ll be closer to home, which is the best option, due to COVID-19.” —Jervailla, 33

$8,995 + $5,500 for a revision + $0 for a second revision

When: 2017, 2018, 2019

Where: Burnsville, Minnesota

“The initial cost covered the surgery along with a level 1 garment and BBL pillow, then meds were an extra $30, and the level-two garment was about $120. After my first surgery, I was left with a very noticeable dent on one side of my butt and a big bulge on the other side, so I wanted to get that fixed. I talked to my doctor about a revision, and he quoted me the discounted price of $5,500. I was somewhat annoyed but figured I’d do it and also take the opportunity to have more fat taken out of my stomach and make my butt a tad bit bigger.

“The second surgery corrected the bulge but did nothing for the dent. I also ended up having two seromas near my belly button; when they healed, they left some pockets of thick scar tissue and an ugly crease going through my belly button. So sadly, my stomach actually looked worse coming out of the second surgery than it did going in.

“My doctor covered the third surgery after I complained about my stomach looking worse than before and the dent he didn’t fix, which could be seen through my clothes. I had that surgery last fall and the dent is now gone, but I still have the scar tissue. At this point, I’m not up for any more corrections. My stomach is flat, so I’ll take that as a win.” —Susy, 34

My surgeon provided me with the stage 1 garment. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life!” —Ana, 31

$7,000

When: March 2020

Where: Cali, Colombia (lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana)

“The Brazilian butt lift surgery cost $5,200 by itself, then I paid $75 a day for 16 days at a recovery house. After that and the flight cost and travel money, I ended up spending about $7,000 total. I had a family member [who’d gone] to my doctor before, so I felt comfortable and completely safe. [The surgery cost included] a guide, who was amazing. She picked me up at the airport, scheduled all my appointments, and took me to and from the hospital on surgery day. I don’t speak Spanish, so I really needed her. At the recovery house, I was treated like a queen—the nurses were so good to me, and the meals were delicious. I would do it a million times over and wish I had done it sooner.” —Tish, 39
