I'm 27 years old, and I've had a severe grinding issue that is ruining my teeth. Multiple dentists have told me that I need to do something about it to stop the progression, and it would be ideal to do some reconstruction to them for both appearance and health. I've consulted many dentists, and found one I really like, but it would be great to get some additional feedback on the game plan. My goal is: Get a great aesthetic smile by correcting underlying issues: I rather take the long way around instead of a quick fix to remove the least amount of natural tooth material and correcting the cause of grinding as best as possible. I'm young, I do not want to regret many decisions or run into non-correctable maintenance years down the line (not being able to replace old veneers due to tooth structure or needing to replace veneers prematurely due to grinding)The plan in progress is: Crown lengthening -- I did this first so I can get some immediate gratification to make the whole process less taxing emotionally. I will likely need to tweak the gum line once I finish:Braces. Currently in metal braces. I chose this route over Invisalign because it forces good habits and can shorten the process in my case.Dentist and Oral Surgeon referrals have mentioned that I *may* need a Lefort 1 jaw surgery *if* they cannot correct some bite alignment issues with braces. We all agreed that the risk/benefit has to be great enough when we re-evaluate once braces have shown more progress.Possible crown on some back molars if the bite cannot be opened enough for veneers on anteriors. Again, this all depends on braces and if jaw surgery cannot fix some issues.Crown lengthening touchups if necessary. My periodontist did an excellent job, but he is a perfectionist on cosmetic work. I don't have a problem with the results, but he is willing to do touchup work for free to make sure I love the end results.Reducing stress and better eating habits to reduce any stress related grinding. Going to therapy already for mental health and working on building a better diet and exercise habit. Mouth guard or plastic retainer at night to prevent any grinding as additional protection from stress-related grinding that couldn't be resolved by above (I do most grinding at night). I'm going to get one of these before veneers, then an replacement one after veneers. Is there any suggestions / feedback on the end goal or game plan (missing something, red flags I should watch out for, etc)? Thanks!
