I have just been diagnosed with ALCL due to the textured implants I had causing a seroma. I have since had them replaced after cleaning our the breast tissue, drainage and fluid sent for testing. My surgeon has informed me that his colleague has suggested I have these implants removed as well as they are still textured implants and suggested I have smooth ones instead. I am still awaiting whether the removal and cleaning out in the surgery was enough to no longer require any further treatment. But this will be determined when the more thorough test results are received. I'm now scheduled for removal of the current implants and to be replaced with the smooth ones. I'm so confused on what to do and nervous about my results still to come. I know it may seem vain but I would prefer not to go back to having no implants but to have regular check ups to ensure I'm okay going forward. However, I would like to hear from those that are having chemo or radiotherapy due to ALCL. What and how long is the treatment for and is there a good survival rate? Or do I have to prepare myself for the worst? I'm turning 50 yrs old this year and am beside myself based on the news I've received.
