Lipedema Lipo and Plasma Pen - I have no lumps or disproportional areas

I chose to use Dr Paul Ruff because of his experience and experience with 360 liposuction and the plasma pen. He is one of the leading doctors to use these types of methods to treat the painful Lipedema that I was experiencing. He broke down the procedure and explained everything in detail, so I felt comfortable in my choice. It’s now 6 months later and I could not be happier with my results. Not only is the excess fat gone, but I have no more chronic pain when sitting or walking long distances. The skin is not droopy, because of his skill with the plasma pen, and I have no lumps or disproportional areas. If you are suffering from Lipedema on your legs, butt, and around your arms, I strongly recommend Dr Paul Ruff at West End Plastic Surgery.

Liposuction for stubborn fat in abdominal & chest areas - highly recommend

My experience at West End Plastic Surgery was top-notch, and I would highly recommend Dr. Ruff to anyone looking for a talented and professional plastic surgeon. The accolades do not just stop with Dr. Ruff; his entire staff, from the nurses to the front desk, were all personable and eager to assist, resulting in an excellent experience. I've had stubborn fat in my abdominal and chest areas that I could not work off due to injuries. Other plastic surgeons could not effectively remove these problem areas, but Dr. Ruff was able to entirely eliminate them with precision and skill, which left me in awe. Additionally, his bedside manner is magnificent - you can tell he genuinely cares about his patient's results and satisfaction. Overall, I'd give my experience a 10 out of 10; highly recommend.

Enhanced male bodybuilder - 460cc per side - overall positive

I never considered getting implants until a client came in for a sports massage and I discovered he had implants. I asked him a lot of questions regarding why he got them (since he was a bodybuilder) and what the process was like. He was very honest and gave me the good, bad and ugly. I have had a struggle getting my glutes to grow. I spent over a year killing my ass at the gym 3 days a week with very little results I wanted. The reality that my genetics were the reason was very clear and it kind of made me a little depressed. However, now i felt like I had some hope. Another client of mine recommended Dr Ruff. I had researched a lot of doctors and most were based very far from me. I reached out to West End Plastic Surgery and scheduled my consult. During my consult I had a reasonable expectation how most of these procedures would go. However, I was surprised to find that Dr Ruff did things a little different. The incision would be higher on the gluteal cleft and a lot smaller of an incision (3-4 cm) then what I was seeing on other patients. The implants were also new and improved. Instead of hard silicone this would be more like a softer silicone that would move like a muscle would and feel more natural and the shape would be more like the actual shape of the gluteus max. He went on to tell me that the implant size wouldn't really be determined till he saw the actual space he was working with and could alter the implants to a better shape during surgery. At first, he guessed 340cc per side. The surgery prep was pretty easy. I picked up my prescriptions ahead of time. My surgery day was actually moved a day ahead of schedule. Everything went as expected. There was a team of people prepping me. I went to sleep face up and woke up face down in the recovery room with my clothes on. I was in quite a bit of pain and they were able to get it under control very quickly. I don't even remember the ride home. I took some pain meds and went to sleep the moment I got home. I did not even other checking out my new butt. The next morning I was able to walk around and check out the 2 tubes coming out the each incision. The cups were filling pretty quickly so had to be emptied every few hours. With the pain meds I didn't notice a lot of pain. My butt was swollen though and just big. I thought maybe it was a little too big at first and was panicking that there was too much implant. Later that day I had a follow up appointment. Everything looked like it was supposed to. Dr. Ruff told me that he had put in about 460cc per side. A week later I had the drains taken out and a week after that I started to develop and infection ( swelling, fever, etc) but only on the right side. I got put on a stronger antibiotic immediately. A week later the left side had a localized infection so the doctor had to squeegee out al the fluid. Recovery has been slow for the most part. Eventually the swelling went down and now i can actually see my new glutes and how they are shaped. They look amazing. I can hardly believe it when I see them. It is exactly how i wanted them to look. The surgeon did an amazing job getting the exact shape I asked for. My overall experience was positive. Getting comfortable was/is my biggest challenge. I'm still struggling to sit on a hard surface and still cant roll over from my back to my side. I do know over time it will not be noticeable. It is certainly a very odd feeling. I had a lot of faith in my surgeon. He does not perform this procedure on males that often and I think he has a market waiting for him. I would definitely recommend West End Plastic Surgery in DC. * Also on 12/08/21 my hips were 40.75". On 12/29/21 my hips are 43.25". Updated on 31 Jan 2022: I can't believe it has been 8 weeks since I got my butt implants. The recovery was no joke. I think during the worst of it I was wondering if I would be able to do things like run, stairmaster, Hip Thusts, Back Squats, pick things off the floor. I was so stiff. Luckily, all the swelling went away and my range of motion started to return. I could sit on the toilet and trim my toe nails once again. I'm at that point where I'm not noticing the implants as much I was. I started working out again and at first I was noticing i could not sit back on a decline bench because i was sitting directly on the implants. It is not as bad anymore. I notice it but its not painful or uncomfortable to the point I can't do the exercises when I'm seated. I do notice weakness when I am doing abduction work as well as any kind of bridge or hip thrusts. Back squats were fine. I have not attempted anything too heavy yet but i did feel like my range of motion was good and I had not developed any bad movement patterns as a result of muscles getting rearranged. As far as shape of my butt. I got exactly what I wanted. I did not want a monster booty. I just wanted more of a lifted look. Now that the swelling is gone it looks lifted with really nice dimples on the side. My friends that have seen it are impressed at how natural it looks. Aesthetics and functionality were super important to me going in and I got exactly what I wanted. I started off just under 41inches and 8 weeks in I'm about 44 inches now. Dr. Ruff delivered and was available thru the rough spots. He has a great staff and I was treated like family. The implants were totally worth it, minus all the new pants you have to buy. Please feel free to DM me if you have any questions about my procedure. Updated on 22 Mar 2022: Life for the most part at this point feels very normal. The implant started getting a little more comfortable and pliable. It no longer feels like a hard shell. I still can't lay back on a hard bench to do things like bench press without supporting my lower back with something. I'm totally ok with making small concessions. I am still doing a lot of booty work outs to help fill in the area around the implants. I'm dead lifting and heavy squatting with no pain or issues with the implant. A few people have been contacting me asking me if it is OK to work out and what its like. All I can say at the moment is that if you had a good surgeon then your work outs will be fine and you will not be restricted. Just be mindful of the implants and don't keep a lot of pressure on them all the time. Keep doing your booty work outs!

Vaser Lipo Abdomen and Flanks

I have been at my same weight for 12 years now, and no matter what I do there is still extra fat to my abdomen and flanks. I decided to go ahead with vaser lipo after having a consult with Dr. Ruff at West End Plastic Surgery in DC. I have had nothing but good experiences with other procedures and staff in the office (fillers, Botox, facial) and I can say the same about Dr. Ruff and his operative team. Being a nurse myself, I always seek out providers who treat me with the kindness and respect I always provide my own patients. His whole team took their time with me to clearly explain what to expect and what they were doing as well as to answer all of my many questions thoroughly. I was truly blown away by the excellent care I received which made me feel like I was in expert hands. I’m about 12 hours post-op, and while I have been uncomfortable and swollen, it has certainly not been unmanageable. I have been able to eat small amounts, drink plenty of fluids, and walk around in short spurts throughout the day. The pain is well tolerated with the addition of Percocet and Arnica tablets. In total, he removed 3L of fat & fluid, which I was told is about 6 lbs total. My 24 hour post op follow up is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Updated on 26 Jun 2019: Ok, so it’s been about 8 weeks since surgery, and I am super pleased! I still have a bit of swelling which is normal, but I am already a couple of sizes smaller. The first week was hell - I would recommend taking a full 7-10 days off of work for recovery if at all possible. But as soon as I was able to get back in the gym I started seeing major progress. I can’t wait to see how much more results I will have in the coming weeks!

Consultation Review: Love, love, love

I met with Dr. Ruff for a consultation for lipo, TT and possible fat transfer. I loved everything about my experience except the sticker shock. His staff was friendly and attentive, office is beautiful and the surgery center is located there as well. Dr. Ruff listened to my concerns, gave me options and was very thorough. My appt was not rushed and he even took the time to go over some important info when it comes to having these procedures done. Would love to have Dr. Ruff help me but unfortunately is way out of my price range. If ever I get a windfall he would be my first choice in the DMV area.

One of the best decisions I‘ve ever made!

This summer I saw Dr. Ruff for a rhinoplasty. Everything from the initial consult, to the payment, to the surgery went flawlessly. New to plastic surgery, I showed up for my consult thinking I’d show Dr. Ruff a photo of a nose I’d like to have. I couldn’t have been more wrong. He explained what my nose should look like in proportion to my face, and followed that up with what I would look like after the rhinoplasty. He assured me I’d still look like me, only better. I was sold. At 5 months post op, I could not be happier with my decision. The end result has exceeded my expectations. Additionally, Dr. Ruff and his staff are always on time, quickly follow up as necessary, and provide timely answers to any questions you may have. The office and surgery center are classy, comfortable, and welcoming. Dr. Ruff and his staff are top notch and I would recommend them for any procedure you are considering.

Fat transfer to breast with a small implant

Hello ladies, today was my surgical date. Nervous but excited to start a new chapter. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see my doctor for pre opp. But the nurses were so kind and answered all of my questions.. I had two panic attacks worrying about my surgery, and they talked me through it. I purchased all recommend items, such as protein shakes, Walmart bras that latch in the front- only 8$$ for two, and filled all my prescription... Over the counter pain meds... Medical grade hand and body cleaner and dial bar soup... Updated on 3 Oct 2018: The lipo was a killer, my breast stop hurting around the third day.. There was a operation room in the medical center. Again the nurses, the doctor, and anesthesiologist were fun and relaxing .. My surgery time was 7:30, I left at 11:30- It's a two hour surgery... I was having a hard time waking up after the anesthesia and the Xanax they Gave me..  The doctor lipo may upper and lower stomach, inside of my thighs. And my back. I needed help from my fiancee to get in and out of bed.. Again lipo is no joke; it feels more like someone punched me over and over again... Not pleasant  But my breast look great, can't wait till they drop  I haven't been able to eat much, a little soup, crackers and a garden roll- lol I left a lot up to Dr ruff; he asked me what size I want - I wanted full c cups  He ended up putting 310 cc to each breast and a small implant over the muscle... Overall the Dr is thrilled with the results.. Ladies, I would love to hear your input concerning the surgery or any helpful tips for healing faster Updated on 3 Oct 2018: I can get in and out of bed by myself.. There is still a lot of pain in my back and sides... I'm hoping by next Monday its more tolerable... I take one Percocet in the afternoon.. My doctor recommended that I take an aleve in the morning and night... I walked around this morning and yesterday.. Which isn't bad at all.. My husband helped me take a shower today, and it felt so weird, Like ants crawling under my skin.. My doctor told me I could throw away my foams!!! Thank God!! The foams are very uncomfortable.. My breast are coming along... I didn't want them too big.. I'm happy with the size they are now, hope it stays..  There is some lumpy swelling right above my vagina.. Which I think is my fault.. It was too hard to snap by compression garment after using the bathroom and I think that's why it's lumpy there.. All and all I'm happy Updated on 3 Oct 2018: Before: bra size: 34a Waist :27inch Will measure on Friday, my bruises are intense... I hope by tomorrow they go away.. Or at least lighten up Updated on 22 Oct 2018: I am three weeks in and already happy with my results. recovering from lipo is really tough. i still feel stiff and sore in my back and sides. the swelling has gone done and I'm starting to see the progress. my breast look great, my right breast is a bit larger. My scars are dark, using silicone patches- hope this helps Updated on 22 Oct 2018:

Great experience

I went in for a Botox consultation as I have been debating starting treatments for over a year. After doing a bunch of research, I decided to go to West End Plastic Surgery and meet with Dr. Ruff. From the moment I walked in I felt very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Dr. Ruff was great at answering my list of questions and never pushed for me adding on any other treatments. He was clear that he would do the minimal amount of Botox injections he felt I needed and during my follow-up we could assess if I could use a little more in some areas. So far, after seeing the results a week in, I am very happy with the results. I look forward to learning more about some of their other skin treatments.

Switched to this practice for all my cosmetic aesthetic needs

Saw Dr Ruff for an estimate on some body contouring. I understand he is a great body man. I found him to be a caring individual who will give you a realistic expectation of the results. I plan to schedule with him later this year. In the meantime, I have been seeing Laurie for some ThermiVA procedures. She is amazing. She is professional but puts you at ease right away. It is clear she takes her work very seriously. I have had this procedure done elsewhere and I can see such a difference in the way Lori goes about it. I have now switched over to this practice for all of my cosmetic aesthetic needs,
