Mr Simon Withey is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a special interest in all aspects of cosmetic and plastic surgery. He combines a commitment to the NHS with a private practice.
Over the last twenty years he has developed a speciality practice in undertaking revision surgery for patients who have experienced complications or poor outcomes from previous operations, and he has a particular expertise in revision aesthetic breast surgery and revision rhinoplasty.
Mr Withey is actively involved in training plastic surgery trainees at the Royal College of Surgeons and has played a key role in improving and setting standards for plastic surgery. He has provided expert advice to various regulatory bodies, including the GMC, the MHRA, and the CQC, and has given evidence to the House of Commons Health Select Committee, the Scottish Parliament, and an EU Parliamentary Committee.
In 2011-2012 he was a key member of the expert group providing advice to the government at the time of the PIP implant crisis, while in 2012-2014 he was a member of the Keogh review of cosmetic practice.
Mr Withey is a former President of the British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and is a full member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). He is a founding member of the UK Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA), a founding member of Joint Council Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), a founding member of National Institute for Aesthetic Research (NIAR).
