Matt Venus, FRCS(plast)

Mr Venus is a lovely surgeon who has been so kind and attentive throughout my journey. He always reminded me of risks and was open and honest in everything he did. I'm so pleased with my results and can't thank him and the team at Meriden centre enough. He's not just an excellent surgeon but also a really warm and helpful individual- especially for a patient like me who badgered him with questions!! I'm only 3 months since the procedure and healing well with a neat scar.

I had a ganglion cyst on my left wrist for a total of ten years. I had been seeing doctors and asking for it to be removed for nine years, after it began to cause pain and other issues with the wrist. I was wearing a splint every day for three of those years. Every doctor and surgeon I had met with told me they didn't feel comfortable operating on my wrist, because of the cyst's proximity to my radial artery and median nerve. Mr. Venus was the first surgeon I had met in my nine year long quest to have it removed to tell me they would be comfortable removing it. 

During our consultation he was friendly, informative and reassuring. He came across as a very nice and genuine person, which made me feel confident in choosing him for my surgery. The surgery itself went really well, and Mr. Venus was brilliant. I was very anxious to have the surgery, and he was so patient with me and kept checking up on how I was feeling as the surgery went on. All in all I don't think I was in theatre for more than an hour. I went home that same day. After the anesthetic wore off I was able to use my hand as normal again later that day. 

After five days I could take larger amounts of weight again with my wrist, and was able to pick up and hold my daughter (something my cyst had previously prevented me doing for any amount of time longer than a few seconds). I did not need any pain relief during my recovery, and in all honesty I never experienced any pain in the wrist after I came home. 

After ten days any swelling or bruising was entirely gone, and I was so confident with my wrist that I made the decision to go back to work early. One month on from my surgery and I am still completely thrilled to pieces with the result. My scar is neat, it healed fast, and I no longer experience pain in my day to day life. I am able to do more with my daughter, and I feel like I can do anything a normal parent would now. I have Mr. Venus' fantastic work to thank for that. I would definitely recommend him!

Mr Venus is an excellent surgeon. I went to him as I had some gynecomastia that I wanted removed. It was the first time I had ever had cosmetic surgery and during my consultation he was friendly and professional. He explained the risks of surgery and showed me some examples of patients he had previously operated on.

He was very quick to respond to any further questions I sent via email. It has been over 3 months since my operation and the results are amazing. The shape of my chest is exactly what I’d hoped for and there is minimal scarring. I would definitely recommend him to anybody considering surgery.

I recently had lipo to the flanks together with a full drainless tummy tuck ( making the healing process a lot easier and quicker without drains),Matt was brilliant, very knowledgeable and professional from the first consultation, he made me at ease through the whole process answered all my questions making the procedure a very pleasant experience my recovery is going really well no problems at all and the results are absolutely fantastic I wouldn't go anywhere else if I was to undergo another procedure.

A full term, twin pregnancy had separated my abdominal muscles and following physio to try to improve this I still looked pregnant. I did a lot of research into abdominoplasty and had consultations with other surgeons but within minutes of meeting Mr Venus I knew he was the right person.

He was professional but extremely approachable and didn’t wince at my continuous torrent of questions. He provided extensive information methodically, including up to date examples of his work, in a very caring sensitive manner and the support continued via email in the lead up to my surgery.

I was cautious when thinking about the results that could be achieved but his incredible skill as a surgeon has far exceeded my result expectations even in the short time following my op.

For me, the mental repair was needed as much as physical repair and he achieved this through his gentle, kind approach which is clearly innate and been refined through continuous practice.

I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Mr Venus in the future or recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone considering surgery.

Matt removed a small lump from my thumb in April 2021. He is an excellent surgeon who makes patients feel comfortable and well informed. 

The process from booking to appointment and completion was quick and easy with good communication throughout. It has now been 2 weeks and my thumb has healed well with a barely visible scar.

Mr Venus is a calm, reassuring and tenacious surgeon. From the outset he was clear, realistic and professional in managing my treatment enquiry and surgery process. He provided excellent information within the pre op consultations, followed this with a very informative and well designed treatment booklet, and even was available to deal with further issues via email.

On the day of my surgery, he dealt with my anxiety and nerves professionally whilst ensuring I was fully ok about what was happening.

He was very clear on what would be done, what outcomes I might expect and what self care regime I needed to follow. He was accessible to talk to at all times, without any pomposity and made me feel both heard and valued. A rare skill in our time pressed lives.

The outcome exceeded my expectations and despite being in my 50s with little hope of ever restoring my self esteem - the surgery over delivered and achieved just that. It’s truly been life changing - if that’s not a shallow admission.

My post op recovery has been uneventful and I remain ecstatic.

I would highly recommend you consider Mr Venus for your surgery. To me, he is just amazing (and has great patience !).

I should have said I had a fleur des lis abdominoplasty. No muscle repair and also no lipo. Mr Venus, where possible, said he does not use drains - so this was a bonus for me as I irrationally feared drains. The first snap is pre op. Sadly he wasn’t simply dealing with a little pot belly - I provided a decent surgical challenge after a 100lb weight loss!! Second snap is 6 hours post op.

I chose Matt to do my procedure after extensive research around other FRCS plastic surgeons. I had consultations with others too but never quite got the feeling that they were right for me. After meeting Matt I had no doubts whatsoever that he was the surgeon I would place my trust in. Right from the first contact via email I felt so much better. He always replied promptly to me, sometimes late at night even which I was very grateful for. After my first consultation I felt at ease and was happy with my decision. I never felt pressured at any time and never rushed into making a decision. I found Matt to be very understanding and helpful in one of the biggest decisions I have ever made. The aftercare from both Matt and the Nuffield hospital were brilliant. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both to anyone who is considering cosmetic surgery.
