QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Hi

I am not sure what look you were going for but it appears that you may have an asymmetry. Better pictures are needed and perhaps a visit to your surgeon as well.

Good Luck

Hi

It is a great question. You wouldn't be wrong for separating them but it would be unnecessary in my opinion. Most facial plastic surgeons are good at both... look at the before and afters.

Hi

Its a bit early but you do appear to have some asymmetry of the tip and the nostril. It appears to be minor but significant at this point but time will tell if it gets better, stays the same or worsens over time. At the 6 month mark you will have a better idea. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. I am sure you will see a path appear that you both agree on. Regardless it starts with patience.

Hi

Thanks for writing in. The short answer is YES. Cartilage removal during rhinoplasty and over resection of cartilage and bone are the main cause of post surgical nasal obstruction. It is hard to say from your pictures but it looks like you have been over resected. This can be fixed with revision rhinoplasty. You may also find relief with a simple in office procedure called a nasal valve reconstruction. Come in for a consult and evaluation. Good Luck

Nostrils look uneven (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi

From your description it sounds like you will need a comprehensive work up including a sinus CT, fiber optic exam and morphing. If you do indeed have polyps you will need a functional endoscopic sinus surgery as well as a complete rhinoplasty. If you can come for an evaluation that would make things a lot easier.

thanks

Hi

thanks for posting pictures. It looks like your scars are thickened and irregular. They would respond better to dermabrasion and or fractora than to traditional lasers. Hope you find your way to a good surgeon.

hi

You have an infection, probably from a hematoma. You need to see your surgeon immediately and have this corrected. You will probably need antibiotics and possible other treatments.

Good Luck

Hi

Three weeks is too early to tell. The result looks pretty good so far. That is likely swelling. Wait a couple months and see. Good Luck

Hi

Rhinoplasty recovery is a long process and 9 weeks is not enough. You should understand that the nose will continue to change for 18 months. These changes are for the most part predictable but in some cases cannot be fully accounted for. Even if your nose is not the shape you wanted, you would need to wait for a full year before tackling another surgery. Hope this helps

Hi

I am very sorry to hear about your troubles. The fact that it took 15 hours is alarming. Even complex deep plane facelifts rarely take more than 4 hours. Unfortunately there is no real chance that your nerve damage will make any progress after 18 months. You may want to seek a plastic surgeon to help with the after affects. I am sorry.

In my opinion, you have two choices: go through the distress of two failed surgeries and then see Dr. Cilento to fix the issues, or visit him first and get the procedure done correctly from the start. I strongly recommend the second option.

Nose and Nasal Hump - Rhinoplasty

I’ve always wanted a rhinoplasty. I did not want a general plastic surgeon to operate on my nose. I chose him because he not only specializes in facial plastic surgery but is also an ENT. I felt I should share my photos because I relied on reviews from others to help make my decision. I will update my review and photos as my nose heals. I chose to have rhinoplasty to 1.) take the heaviness and bulk out of the tip 2.) not have my nose hang down when I smile 3.) have a smoother more feminine side profile Updated on 12 May 2019: I had bad swelling on day 2. I had to have my nose broken in three places by the bridge. He called in a steroid and it helped tremendously. Each day I think shows significant improvement. PAIN: the pain really isn’t bad. It’s just really uncomfortable being so swollen. Pressure behind eyes and ears, lack of sleep, and sore throat. EMOTIONALLY: I had a hard time day 2 and 3. I thought I was prepared to see myself in the mirror like this but it got to me. Updated on 21 May 2019: I just received my anesthesia bill for $700 if you need a general idea of cost. I had my cast taken off, packing removed, and front stitches taken out. He placed tape on my nose that I have to leave on for a week. I could breath really well right afterwards and can finally sleep at night. Im very swollen but I can already tell my hump is gone and tip doesn’t hang down :) Updated on 25 Jun 2019: Overall I’m healing very nicely. My nose is still swollen, spongy and numb on the tip. I’m very happy with my side profile and a lot of the bulk is gone! I’m looking forward to seeing more definition on the tip as I continue to heal! Updated on 14 Jul 2019: Understand that even though you are given a quote... it’s incomplete. This was never explained to me by the staff but shame on me for not reading what I signed. When my first bill for $700 came in I was angry but decided to take it on the chin as a lesson learned for not being a responsible consumer. When the $9,000 EOB’s came in the nightmare began. Understand that it’s your responsibility to call the anesthesiologist with the procedure codes and get a quote from them. Then, you need to call your medical insurance company and find out what is covered, your deductible, and if this particular doctor is in network. I specifically asked the staff if my medical insurance covered my procedure and I was assured it was. This was a half truth because although HIS office was in my network...the anesthesiologist HE chose was not at the time. This is why I started receiving outrageous claims with me liable. It took days of phone calls back and forth to his office, my insurance company, and the anesthesiologist to untangle this web. Why on earth would you place all of this work and stress on your patient who is paying a premium for your services? His office washes their hands of it. I had to speak to several people at the anesthesiologist’s office to get them to fight my insurance company. Unbeknownst to his staff there is a legal loop hole that requires insurance companies to treat out of network doctors as “in network” when the patient has no choice in selecting him or her. So, because he chose the anesthesiologist and not me things change in my favor. That said, I am still liable for my deductible and this entire thing is still being fought. In total it’s about $1,400 over the original “quote”. I’ve had two other plastic surgeries and never had to do any of this and my other quote with a different surgeon had everything included.

Nose Job in Houston, Texas!

I am 20 years old, and I have wanted to improve the aesthetic of my nose since I was 10. I have also always had difficulty breathing, especially at night. I finally decided to go ahead and have both problems corrected. I had a combination of rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and turbinoplasty done on my nose by Dr. Ben Cilento. I researched many doctors, but he was the only surgeon that stood out to me. Today I am one day post-op, and other than my nose feeling a little stuffy I feel great. Updated on 19 Dec 2018: I am a bit more swollen than yesterday. I have been taking arnica tablets and using arnica gel to help reduce the swelling. I feel pretty good except for when I am trying to sleep because I can’t breathe well yet. Updated on 26 Dec 2018: Today I finally get my cast off and my splints out! I feel pretty good. All of my bruising was completely gone by day 5. Updated on 2 Jan 2019: I had my cast removed a week ago and had my tape replaced. Today I finally got my tape off and got my first good look at my nose. I am so happy with the results so far. I can’t wait to see how it looks once the swelling goes down! Updated on 19 Jan 2019: I am about one month post-op and I have noticed a lot of the swelling has gone down. I am also breathing much better. I can’t wait to see what it looks like once 100% of the swelling subsides.

Unparalleled level of skill

Dr. Cilento is a powerhouse of skill! I am just one day post op and can already tell a difference in my breathing even with the splints in! There is very minimal bruising and I do not expect a very long or painful recovery time due to his level of expertise. His office staff is amazing; I felt like family as soon as I came for my consultation. I can’t wait to try out the many other services Cilento Facial Plastics and Cilento Medspa and Wellness has to offer!

Delicate and Complex Rhinoplasty Procedure Which Many Surgeons Would Not or Could Not Perform

There was a significant obstruction to my left nostril. I needed to find a seriously good surgeon for the procedure. I chose Dr Ben Cilento because he has a strong reputation as a dependable surgeon. During the consultation, I also came to realize that he had an extraordinary eye for aesthetics (an ability to discern optimal proportions which were natural and pleasing). I subsequently found that his patients were found not only in Texas but from other parts of the world. The patients who he has helped span a great many ethnicities. I have much confidence in recommending him.

Fractora RF

AdrianaTS

A Better Skin with Fractora

After talking to Dr. Cilento we made the decision to do the Fractora process to help my skin improve and combat some of the aging saggines of my face. Aging is not fun . Fractora is just one step to increase collagen that will help my skin with some of the sagging from aging. I did the Fractora on a Tuesday and went to work the next day. It has been a few days and my skin is still healing, but I can see that it is looking better. My skin is glowing and looks fresh. The procedure is simple, but it can have some discomfort. Thankfully Dr. Cilento gives you a good amount of numbing medication to help with it, resulting in minimal pain during the procedure. The sounds I experienced during the procedure itself was the only thing I did not like, but Dr. Cilento's crew brought music to help me with it. Next time I will bring earbuds! Yes, there will be a next time for me to repeat the Fractora process so I can gain the most benefit from this procedure. I cannot wait to see the final result. Thank you so much to Dr. Cilento for making this treatment available at an affordable cost. I am too young (47) for cosmetic surgery, but this is a very cost-effective treatment to help me with some of my facial aging issues.

Lip Surgery

I had an amazing experience

Dr. Cilento and his staff were top notch. I had lip surgery to remove a portion of my lips that had developed scar tissue from biting. I had my procedure done in the office. He and his staff were fantastic both during and after my surgery. He talked to me step by step and made me feel very comfortable and calm. My healing was quick and easy, and my scarring very minimal and unnoticeable. Highly recommend Dr. Cilento!
