In January of 2023 I underwent a tummy tuck with muscle repair at Alamo Plastic Surgery, and I cannot express how pleased I am with my entire experience. From the moment I walked through their doors, I felt supported, well-informed, and cared for every step of the way. Alamo Plastic Surgery truly stands out in their commitment to compassionate communication, realistic outcome discussions, and providing excellent clinical care. One of the aspects that impressed me the most was the level of communication I received from the entire team. From the first phone call, to scheduling a consult, their level of customer service was better than anything I have experienced. Before the procedure, Dr. Albright thoroughly explained the process, potential risks, and helped me set realistic expectations. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I felt comfortable and confident in making such a big decision. Joey was always quick to respond to my questions during the lead up to surgery and this transparency and honesty created a trusting relationship that continued throughout my entire journey. During my initial consultation, Dr Albright was so engaged, giving me a detailed and realistic discussion of the anticipated outcomes. I never felt rushed or pushed. He understood my desires and concerns and provided me with a comprehensive understanding of what I could expect from the procedure. I truly appreciated his expertise and ability to manage my expectations, ensuring that I had a clear understanding of what was possible. This realistic approach allowed me to make informed decisions and ultimately led to an outcome that FAR exceeded my expectations. I am so blessed to have found Dr. Albright. The care I received at Alamo Plastic Surgery was truly exceptional. Not only were Joey and Dr. Albright professional and knowledgeable, but they also demonstrated genuine compassion and empathy. Appointments were always smooth and always on time and I always left feeling well cared for. They managed my day after surgery issues with compassion and patience (I get very nauseous very easily!) They made me feel like more than just a patient; they treated me as an individual with unique needs and concerns. Even several weeks into my recovery, the availability of the staff was outstanding. I had a concern late on a Sunday, and as I had come to trust, they returned my call promptly and provided the guidance and reassurance I needed. This level of attentiveness and responsiveness during the recovery process was truly remarkable and further solidified my trust in their expertise. Overall, my experience at Alamo Plastic Surgery was outstanding, and I highly recommend their services. Their upfront communication, realistic outcome discussions, and exceptional care set them apart from other clinics. If you are seeking a plastic surgery center where you will feel well-informed, supported, and receive top-notch care, look no further than Alamo Plastic Surgery. I am grateful for the positive impact they have made on my life and my self-confidence.
For years I wanted to fix my tummy after having children and having a saggy belly. I had a prior consult several years ago that scared me off. I decided to start my journey again to find a surgeon I could trust to perform the procedures I needed. Dr. Albright was my second consult and after reviewing his photos (tummy tuck with liposuction), meeting with him, and reading reviews I knew he was the right choice. My procedure went smoothly and Joey and Dr. Albright were so helpful during the recovery process. They were just a text away whenever I had questions which was very comforting. I am 7 months post-op and I LOVE my results. My tummy is flat and I feel confident in clothes and swimsuits I would have never worn prior to the surgery. The scar is very thin and is hidden under my bikini bottoms! I am enjoying working out and being able to see visible abs now! The recovery takes time but these results are 100% worth it and I do not regret my decision to have this procedure.
I am currently recovering from breast reduction surgery, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Dr Albright and his team are incredible. This is the first time in my entire life that I have undergone surgery, so naturally, I was nervous. But once I had my first visit with Dr. Albright, I knew I had arrived at the right place. He is a professional, kind, patient, and empathetic person. He listened to what I wanted, and got rid of any doubts by informing me of what would happen on every step of the process. I never felt alone. His work team in the office and his team in the surgery room were both phenomenal. They always answered my questions and supported me when I needed. I truly believe that God led me to the right place. Thanks Alamo Plastic Surgery.
Just had my surgery yesterday! Surgery went well overall. I remembered being wheeled to the operating room and then I just woke up with boobs! Stats: 5”2, 100 lbs, BWD: 10.5 cm, originally 30A size No kids Implants: Natrelle Inspira Soft Touch Ultra High Profile, SSX-340 and SSX-310 due to the asymmetry of my breasts POD 0: the soreness and tightness were terrible when I first got out and throughout the day. So I had to take the prescribed pain meds and tylenol around the clock. Didn’t get much continuous sleep. My body is adjusting to all the stretching and pressures. POD1: still have soreness but a little better than yesterday. I had to put on a heating pad for my backaches. Went to my first followup appointment and got my bandage off! So I’m just wearing a surgical post op bra now, which is a lot more breathable than the ACE bandage. Still taking all the pain meds around the clock like yesterday. Saw my boobs for the first time today and they look so funny all square and boxy lol can’t wait for them to drop!!! Updated on 19 Jan 2023: Pain and soreness are better today. Had a great night sleep last night too. The shapes are about the same as yesterday, maybe a bit more swelling (my bra felt tighter) as expected in day 3 - 5. I’m taking prescribed pain meds and tylenol around the clock. I had a small bowel movement but still pretty constipated from the hydrocodone so I started Miralax today. Had my first shower with my partner’s help — I feel so refreshed! I know it takes time but also this is really testing my patience lol Updated on 21 Jan 2023: Yesterday and today the pain and soreness have subsided significantly. I used less than half the amount of hydrocodone and replaced with just Tylenol. I added Miralax which helped with my constipation. The girls look about the same, still firm to touch. They feel like when I’m on my period - kind of engorged and sensitive nipples. I feel like they are falling out every time I take the bra off for showering lol. Updated on 23 Jan 2023: Taking only Tylenol for pain for the past 2 days. Some random zings and nerve pain here and there as the nerves healed. I started using nipple covers to help with the sensitivity. Still have tightness and some soreness but very manageable. I also started to see the difference between them now. My left side is more “square” and also higher lol. Bruising near the incision is fading significantly! Updated on 31 Jan 2023: . Appearance: I don’t see they have changed much. Maybe less swollen? The implants are still high and tight. My surgeon reassured me at my first week post op visit that they will eventually settle down in a few months but I can’t help getting all worried and impatient with the process lol. . Discomfort/ soreness/ pain: barely! It’s much better each day. I only need maybe 1 Tylenol or 1 ibuprofen each day now. I transitioned from every 4 hours to every 6-8 hours to every morning which is when the soreness is the worst aka ‘morning boob’ haha . Activities: I’m more mobile each day but still followed my surgeon’s restrictions - the T-rex arms for now. I drove, went to the grocery stores (not lifting any bags too heavy), cooked easy meals, showered by myself with a loofah wand. Continued sleeping on my back only Will have my follow up appointment at the end of this week and get the tapes off! Updated on 7 Feb 2023: Trying on an old small bikini for fun! Implants haven’t dropped much yet but made some small progress. Will continue to wait and see! Got the glue taken of my scars and I’m using some tape on them now. Updated on 14 Feb 2023: Continue wearing my band and doing massages. I can switch to regular underwire bras now! My left side had more soreness than the right one. The bottom of both breast feel fuller but still they both have some more dropping to do. Just wish I can fast forward this process lol But I am loving them more each day! Updated on 17 Feb 2023: Exactly 1 month to the date today!! They got a little softer and more relaxed. Regaining more of my strength back, almost 100%. I’m trying on some 30DD tomorrow as the 32D didn’t feel as fit. Some pics with clothes as the girls dont look too square anymore lol Updated on 21 Feb 2023: Not much change since last week. They dropped a bit more with the band and massages. I’m back to almost all regular activities but haven’t been cleared for working out yet which I really miss! No tension or discomfort at all though. Can’t wait for them to continue the process! Updated on 28 Feb 2023: Same routine. I have some tenderness on the left side but pretty much almost normal strength. They have different progress and look different in shape but volume seems similar. They continue to soften more too!
Dr.Albright, Julie, and Joey are so great to work with! They made my experience so positive. I’m happy with my results, and the patient care Alamo Plastic Surgery offers. I highly recommend them to anyone considering plastic surgery in the San Antonio area. I had revision surgery done and old implants removed, new ones put in and a mesh - “internal bra” added for support. I feel like I know everything that was done and why because Dr.Albright personally walks me through it.
Dr. Albright, Juli, and and Joey are such an incredible team to work with! They are always available to answer my questions and always willing to make the time for me if I need to come in! My results are incredible and everyone who has seen me since breast augmentation can’t stop staring (in a flattering way!) I keep being told by friends that my results look so natural, but still enhanced…which was the exact look I wanted . I also greatly appreciated that Dr. Albright explained everything from both a functional and cosmetic point of view. I can’t thank Dr. Albright and his team enough for the incredible experience! I’m fortunate to be under their care.
For patients, a breast reconstruction is a significant commitment of time, money, recovery and emotion. Because complications from breast reconstruction can be so traumatizing (potentially delaying breast cancer treatments!), there is much emphasis on postoperative recovery. Most patients who undergo above-the-muscle implant-based reconstruction will be limited from exercise for about 5-6 weeks. In the first two weeks after surgery, you will be unable to reach and pull with the arms, or sleep on your sides. You will also have postoperative drains during this period. Concurrently, you will be wearing some form of breast support continuously for four weeks. In weeks 3-4, you will be able to perform range of motion stretches to the shoulders, but will still be somewhat limited on reaching/pulling. Weeks 4-6, you will be unrestricted with arm movements and able to sleep on your sides. Most patients will return to work at 2 weeks after surgery (all the rest of patients by 4 weeks) depending on how much reaching/pulling they must perform. The reconstructed breast volume is relatively stable by 2 months, when patients can purchase new bras. Final shape and look of the breasts out-of-clothing (assuming no radiation), will be achieved by 4-6 months after surgery for most patients.
Performing an immediate breast reconstruction after mastectomy allows the most natural breast reconstruction, as we will be able to keep most, if not all, of the breast skin and nipple. Patients will discuss using her own tissue to reconstruct the breast (flap reconstruction) versus an implant or a tissue expander. A delayed breast reconstruction surgery differs from performing the reconstruction at the time of the mastectomy because the skin of the breast has been removed. Therefore with a delayed reconstruction, we must replace the missing volume of the breast, but also address the lack of available skin. This is achieved by either stretching the remaining skin on the chest (with a tissue expander below the pectoralis muscle), or by moving new skin from another part of the body to the chest (a flap).
A breast cancer diagnosis is a life changing event. It traumatizes both the body and the spirit. It disrupts a person’s life and forces them into a world that is unfamiliar and stressful. Doctors’ appointments, imaging studies, blood tests, genetic testing, and various treatment options (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal therapy)… Trying to research different reconstruction techniques on your own from random online sources is frustrating and often not very productive. With the placement of an expander there should not be pain when it is expanded.
These patients have a very high complication rate. The most important reason why this happens is because the radiation has already caused permanent damage to the tissues by restricting blood flow. Attempting to reconstruct these tissues when they have already been damaged is less predictable for wound healing and infection. Even if patients get through the initial healing from surgery, most patients will develop capsular contracture around an implant within 5 years. Dr. Albright is rightfully cautious and highly selective when offering (or not offering) implant-based breast reconstruction to patients who had previous breast radiation.
