Mikeyshouse,

Etching and High-definition liposculpture are both advanced techniques to highlight the abdominal musculature. Once any excess deep fat is cleared from the area with liposuction, etching is used to define the lines between and around the muscles.  Etching can be done with traditional liposuction techniques, but in my experience always produces a superior result using VASER liposuction. VASER allows precise removal of superficial fat from key areas exposing the natural muscle curvature. Once etching of the prominent muscles of the abdomen is complete, I perform high-definition VASER liposculpture to contour and blend all the surrounding areas (abdomen, obliques, flanks, chest, etc.). It is the hi-definition liposculpting that gives the liposuction and etching the extra depth and dimensions needed to achieve a dramatic but natural result.

Overall, achieving the look of a natural six-pack is a progression of techniques that requires intimate knowledge of the static and dynamic anatomy of the trunk, plus experience with advanced sculpting instrumentation and technique. Not every patient will need to undergo each step, but they should decide on a surgeon who is comfortable with the full process so the best and most natural results can be achieved.

jen4332,

Trying on implants is only one tool that should be used to determine the correct implant choice for you to meet your goals. I use a sizing system in my practice to allow patients to get a general feeling of what look they want in a bathing suit or clothing, but often times the size they settle on using this system is not a direct correlation of what size implant is used in surgery to achieve that look.  I use personalized measurements, photos and an in-depth discussion of the patients goals to help determine the appropriate implant.

With the implant options available today you may be able to achieve your desired look using an implant that may be more suited to your frame. No longer does a patient have to increase implant size or projection beyond what naturally fits their frame to get a significantly augmented look. For example, silicone implants come in a variety of gel thicknesses which allow a smaller or less projected implant to remain full in the upper breast, give excellent shape and cleavage but still retain a natural, non-rounded look. If you prefer a saline based implant, a hybrid saline implant such as the Ideal Implant maintains a much more natural look- closer to that of a silicone implant vs. the rounded look of a traditional saline implant.

Consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is comfortable with using all the available options will help you make the most informed decision to achieve your goal. If you had a thorough consultation, discussed all the available options, your body can safely accommodate the 600 cc implants and you like the proposed result, then ultimately, that is what matters.

Cloewithac,

The fleur-de-lis (FDL) tummy tuck is used to address excessive horizontal skin laxity- especially above the belly button. Based on your pictures you have a nice hourglass contour in this area which leads me to suggest that you would see a nice result without a need for the FDL pattern and scar. The 360 lift will help address the stomach plus excess skin on the back and give you a lift of any sagging skin on the buttock. It is hard to assess the back/buttock areas based on your pictures, however if excess skin in these areas is not a major concern you can likely get a very nice result from a full tummy tuck and ultrasound based liposuction of the flanks and back. The full tummy tuck will address excess skin above and below the belly button plus some excess skin of the flank region. Ultrasound liposuction will target any excess fatty tissue of the flanks and back plus promote skin tightening of these areas during healing. Go over your goals during your consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to see if you can achieve your desired look without the need for a continuous scar around your back.

darrens,

The way to "soften" the look of the etching would be to reduce the pockets of fat that are overlying and accentuating the abdominal musculature. The tricky part is that the etching pattern creates dense scar tissue along the lines of definition. In order to reduce these areas through a minimum number of access incisions the etching lines (scarring) would need to be released. Ultrasound liposuction is an excellent technique to get through the scar tissue and sculpt small area of superficial fat. Just be prepared to potentially lose the full etching pattern or have uneven areas of swelling during the healing process due to drainage patterns altered by previous scarring. Although the previous pattern may be disrupted by this procedure, you will still have accentuation of the abdominal area due to your natural musculature.

With the implant options available today you will be able to achieve a very natural look with cleavage. No longer does a patient have to increase implant size or projection beyond what naturally fits their frame to get cleavage. ameeks001,

From the pictures it looks as if you would get a very nice result from a tummy tuck and liposculpting (contouring) of your sides and back. The tummy tuck would not only allow removal of the excess skin from your abdomen and flanks (sides), it would allow your surgeon to tighten your abdominal muscles to help flatten the front of your waist.  Adding liposuction to the areas of excess fatty tissue along your sides and back will accentuate your natural hourglass figure and your buttock, plus it allows more skin to be removed during the tummy tuck.  As a bonus, the fat taken out from these areas can be used to further contour some other area (if you wish) instead of being discarded.

In general, being within 10-15 lbs. of your ideal body weight will optimize your results. If you plan to have any of the liposuctioned fat placed elsewhere, you may be alright at a slightly higher weight to ensure enough fat can be harvested to achieve your goal.Congratulations on taking the next step and doing something for yourself.

Do IDEAL implants have a 3 year shelf life?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

bluefreeze18,

All implants approved by the FDA for use in augmentation and reconstruction are considered medical devices which carry a expiration date. In essence, this date is a period of time the implant manufacturer has received approval to ensure sterility and integrity of the packaged/unopened implant. It is another point of consumer protection to make sure the implants you have placed meet certain standards.  Once placed, the printed expiration date no longer applies and a schedule of routine replacement every 10-12 years with regular f/u and screening can be implemented.

Hi Joypasion,

While I think imaging is nice to give the patient an idea of what they can look like, it doesn't account for all the little things that can be done to meet your goals. Your petite frame requires certain considerations to ensure you get the look you want. Going completely sub-muscular will limit the size, projection and final placement of the implants due to the inherent size and stretch of your pec muscle as the limiting factor.  The good news is that implants have really evolved over the past several years and there are a number of options to give you a certain look.

The implant type, final size and placement is a process I tailor to each patient through measurements, photos, pre-operative sizing and use of sizers in the OR to see how an implant will actually look on you. Based on your wishes of a larger/projected silicone implant (relative to your frame) and upper pole fullness with a significant amount of cleavage I would suggest considering a cohesive silicone implant placed partially (not fully) under the muscle which will allow better contour with the use of a larger implant with your frame. An incision through the infra-mammary fold is a good option as it allows direct placement of the implant into the tight breast pocket, heals well and hides in the fold of the breast. Going through the armpit or around the areola is not as direct and can make placement of your implant choice a little more challenging, however, your surgeon can help you make the right choice for you.

As for size- I find that patients in this area almost all opt to err on the side of going slightly larger than they initially thought. I like to use a pre-operative sizing system that allows a patient to try on breast inserts to get an idea of what they like and can expect for final size and symmetry. Like imaging, it's not a perfect representation but it allows you to physically experience the potential results and how they look in your clothing.

After 3 to 4 months you should be back to your regular exercise routine without restrictions. Midline abdominal muscle tightening will be the biggest limiting factor in your activity level early post-op and will keep you moving at half speed for a week to ten days. With routine follow-up and early basic activity, most of my patients are working back to full activity by the fourth week. At six weeks post-op, I remove all restrictions. In my experience, the majority of patients are back to (or have surpassed) their pre-operative fitness level by the 2-2.5 month mark. You may still have residual numbness along the abdomen and flanks plus small areas of transient swelling after really heavy activity but these will continue to resolve over the next few months.

From your pictures the implants appear to be in a good position for 4 weeks post-op. You have a petite frame and even small implants can take a little while longer to gently stretch the pocket and migrate to their final position. In my practice, I suggest implant massage to aid this process. Heavy lifting and repetitive movements can potentially change the pocket where the implant sits so be mindful of this while you continue to heal. The other choices you made should not effect the outcome to any great degree. The most important thing is to follow up with your surgeon as scheduled for routine evaluation and adjustment to your post-op regimen if needed.

Calf implants excellent results with Dr. Beck in DFW

Dr. Beck did an incredible job on my bilateral double calf implants. He added over 1.5" to the size of each calf muscle, had great bedside manner, and his team is super competent and professional. I drove up 3 hours from Austin and rented a VRBO near his outpatient surgery center and the entire experience was very pleasant. Updated on 20 Mar 2020: Today, I had a follow up with Dr. Beck. Most of the additional swelling I had went down, so the definition that the implants created is really attractive. Dr. Beck even says that in the coming months, there will be even more definition showing. I’ve been cleared to resume all workouts, climb stairs normally, and I no longer have to walk flat footed. Some doctors say you’re fine to walk normally and resume activities at 4 weeks, but I’m super grateful that Dr. Beck stood his ground in not clearing me until the 6 week mark. I was able to do crunches / sit ups as long as my legs were elevated slightly, so it’s not like I was completely inactive. If I would have done anything strenuous during weeks 4 and 5, I cold have risked the implants shifting due to the scar tissue not firmly sealing them in place. I know that because I accidentally forgot to place both feet on a stair together during week 4 and the soreness and cramping returned. I’m applying Hydrate by Eraclea twice daily (which will drastically reduce the scars since it contains Hyaluronic acid zinc) and I’m continuing to moisturize my legs with lotion. I feel good, I’m excited to resume lifting, and this was definitely well worth the wait!

Breast Implant Removal

Removal of implants was refreshing

Extremely pleased with my results, and the office is very professional. I have been struggling with low self worth and have learned through counseling that I am enough to be a blessing. Breast augmentation is a great surgery to add to your beauty. I used them to attract men because I was convinced that, me alone wasn’t enough. Dr. Beck and staff made the process very comforting and supportive

Tummy Tuck

dburns1207

The only choice for plastic surgery!

Dr. Beck and his team were amazing. I had a tummy tuck and thigh lift on January 16th. I stayed overnight two nights in the recovery hotel. My surgery was great. The staff in the hotel was at my side night & day. I had very minimal pain and my recovery has been great. My scars are healing exactly as Dr. Beck described with the help of the healing cream they offered me. I consulted 5 other doctors prior to my decision to finding Dr. Beck and clearly he was my choice. Him, his staff & facility all made me feel comfortable enough to have this surgery. I am 7 weeks out and my results have already exceeded my expectations.

RN recommends DR DANIEL BECK

Amazing...I am a Registered Nurse Certified in filler and Botox who has experience as a plastic surgery nurse. I would always and only recommend Dr Daniel Beck for FILLERS and BOTOX and here is why: Dr Beck does my lips which always look amazing. No duck lips here which is common with Nurse injectors or unqualified MDs. Dr Beck gives me that full sexy pout allowing for more eversion of the lip which is what everyone essentially wants. He also slightly defined the philtral columns which adds a bit of support. He does my cheeks with VOLUMA. THIS enhanced and defined the areas on the zygomatic bone to give my face a slimmer look avoiding overfilling filling the medial areas of the cheek which can cause a puffy look. He also fills my nasolabial folds with a filler he recommended from the Restylane line of products. Which can be tricky. He did it perfectly as to NOT give me that ever so OBVIOUS monkey look that some people get when allowing a less than trained injector perform injections on them. Dr Beck also does my Botox giving my brows a lift by paying close attention to the oribicularis area which opens up the eye when injected appropriately. As a RN who is certified in dermal fillers and Botox and who has experience working in plastic surgery, I would highly recommend Dr Daniel Beck.

Compassionate to one's needs, responsive to even the most simple questions without being condescending, available at the drop of a hat during an emergency without sounding irritated, Dr. Beck is second to none. Life changing results with outcome expectations exceeded

After losing over 100lbs at 43 years of age it was apparent that I needed to consult a surgeon to repair the havoc that the weight loss had on my body. I was referred to multiple surgeons by a friend and Dr. Daniel Beck was the first consultation that I scheduled. Upon meeting Dr. Beck it was apparent to me that he I did not need to pursue any additional consultations. Dr. Beck took a meticulous approach in providing multiple options on how to achieve my desired results while setting my expectations to ensure that I was realistic. Over the past year I have had 3 surgeries consisting of a thigh lift; tummy tuck, breast lift and augmentation, posterior lift and an arm lift. I am beyond thrilled with my results as they have exceeded my expectations, and my respect and appreciation for Dr. Beck’s professionalism, meticulous perfection and kind bedside manner and great staff have won me over as a lifetime customer. His passion for his practice is apparent in his work on a consistent daily basis. I cannot articulate in words how the surgeries and results have changed my life.

Calf Implants by Dr. Beck - Dallas, TX

As mid 40's male who could NEVER get his calves to grow, I elected to have implants. After much research trying to identify a highly qualified surgeon in Texas for this specialized procedure, all signs pointed to Daniel Beck. It was the best choice I could have made. Im harsh on physicians and hold them to very high standards. But Dr. Beck exceeded them all. As a surgeon, this guy is an absolute perfectionist, so I should not have been shocked when he told me the number of calf implant procedures he had performed in just the first four months of 2017. But beyond that, he is of those physicians (which I did not expect from a plastic surgeon) that genuinely cares about his patients. This came through in the initial consultation..in the run-up to the procedure where he answers every question fully and patiently while giving you his personal mobile number, to the aftercare that absolutely blew me away. The later of which involved an out of state hospitalization unrelated to the procedure but in which doctor Beck worked hand in glove over the phone with out of state doctors to ensure my overall care and made specific suggestions that were accepted and ensured the implants were not threatened. Beck is simply a throwback to the days when more doctors were in for the right reasons...and he is one of the most competent and modest physicians you will find in Dallas or any other major city in the US.

Breast Augmentation

dharris721

Highly recommend!

I had a breast augmentation (dual plane with highly cohisive silicon gel 365cc) with Dr. Beck. I was a full B, small C with all breast fat on the bottom of breast - and now I'm a full C and fill out the top of my bra! I was pretty nervous going in, as this is a permanent procedure. I couldn't be more happy with the results! Not only is he very thorough, he really took the time to listen to what I wanted and asked a lot of questions I hadn't yet even considered - all so he could tailor my augmentation to what I want. His team (in office and surgical) were all great as well and his office team continue to be great! All questions and concerns were answered and addressed before and after surgery and still at the present. And I've gotten so many compliments on my breasts and I'm still only 6 weeks out. I'm very happy with the size and the way they look! The scars are also really starting to fade as well! I'd recommend anyone to Dr. Beck and have friends already saying that when they're ready to do a breast augmentation they are going to go to him! Thanks for the great experience! See pictures below.
