Michelle Sieffert, MD
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

I am a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast, and body. I do not take a “one-size-fits-all” approach to patient care. Whether you have lost 100+ pounds (or 10!), carried three children, survived breast cancer, suffered with a birth defect, or become a victim of trauma-your problem, your wishes, and your desires are unique. As such, your plan should be individualized and tailored to your specific concerns and desires. I believe in the power of education to help you make informed decisions for your care. I am here to walk with you through your journey, educate you about the changes occurring in your body or the pathology or trauma you sustained, and share the options you have for your care. I want us to work together to design a plan that is just right for you. Beauty is more than just skin deep, and it exists within each and every one of us. We all have the ability to choose confidence, enact real change, and feel completely beautiful. I look forward to embarking upon this journey with you, and helping you to become your very best version of you.

Breast aug & scar revision - great physician, nursing, office & support staff!

Fabulous! Dr. Donaldson was very professional but comforting. He explained my procedure well and provided ample advice on my treatment plan, which included a abdominal scar revision as well as breast augmentation. He seemed very confident that my results would be what I am looking for. Feeling great! I still experience some nerve pain in both breasts, but gabapentin has controlled those...

32 Yrs Old, 36b, 450cc HP Review

Well, tonight I decided to start the documentation of my Breast Augmentation journey. I have turned to this site a few times now to get some answers and reassurance before undergoing my surgery so I’m hoping I can be that outlet for someone else here in the future. I have ALWAYS dreamed of having the most perfect breasts. I have an athletic build. I have played volleyball and other sports f...

Why Did I Wait So Long to Do This for Myself?

Shortly after I delivered the youngest of our 4 children (she is now 3), I began really researching breast augmentations and various plastic surgeons in my area. I'm 5'10", 140 pounds, and have broad shoulders, so my A cups, that are quite deflated after 4 children, just weren't proportionate to the rest of my frame. But I was always too worried about what others might say or think if I were...

5’3 140lbs 360cc Natrelle Inspiration SRM Allergan Smooth Round Implants

I’m over 40 and was a 34B /36A . I had started researching getting my BA for a year and a half and this site helped me so much . I’m a mother of 1 and breast fed and my daughter didn’t take my milk fast enough so my boobs became very engorged and stretched them out and made them look floppy after they dried up . I was always wearing a push up bra to pull off that roundness and not droop . I sc...

Q: Scheduled for lipo and tummy tuck. Is surgery safe during Covid?
Answered by Dr. DonaldsonJanuary 19, 2021

A: Covid-19 is important to consider when scheduling a surgery right now. The chances of contracting the illness in the surgical center are very low. Those who work in surgery centers are trained on the significance of maintaining sterile environments and keeping patients safe. These protocols have been amplified during these times- some surgery centers will require negative Covid-19 tests before moving forward with the surgery, and they will also do a health screening upon arrival to the center.

The main concerns are if the patient is asymptomatic with Covid-19 prior to their surgery or if they contract it during their healing process. After surgery, the patient is essentially immunocompromised, so the virus may affect recovery time. However, since every individual responds very differently to the virus, the effect on recovery time will also vary between patients. It is important for patients to understand that there is this slightly increased risk, and they should talk with their surgical team about the precautions that are being taken to keep everyone safe.

Q: How Do I Tell if I Need a Thigh Lift?
Answered by Dr. DonaldsonJanuary 19, 2021

A: Thank you for your question! This is an instance where a consultation would be necessary to determine the details of your treatment plan. Here is some information about what a surgeon may look for during your consultation:

Since you are looking to address a pocket of fat, liposuction alone may do the trick. However, this would be dependent on your skin laxity. If the skin is not elastic enough, it may not conform to the contour of the area. This is an instance where a thigh lift would be beneficial in removing that excess skin after liposuction. Your surgeon will be able to map out an individualized treatment plan based on your skin laxity, individual anatomy, and overall goals.

Q: What kind of incisions or techniques leave the least amount of scarring in a breast lift?
Answered by Dr. DonaldsonJanuary 19, 2021

A: This is an excellent question!

There are four kinds of breast lifts with varying scarring. As lift potential increases, more scarring will come along with it. Crescentic mini-mastopexy is the least invasive- the scar is just a half circle at the top of the areola, and it will result in 1 to 2 centimeters of lift. The circumareolar lift includes an incision that will go all the way around the areola, and this lift will result in 2 to 3 centimeters of lift. Next, the circumareolar with vertical extension. This lift is known as the lollipop lift, because of the circular incision around the areola and vertical, straight incision beneath it. The lollipop lift has the potential for 5 to 6 centimeters of lift. Finally, the circumareolar with vertical and horizontal extension is similar to the lollipop lift but includes a horizontal scar. This option has unlimited lift potential.

Q: What pain medication is typically prescribed after liposuction and what creams work best to reduce swelling and lumpiness?
Answered by Dr. DonaldsonJanuary 14, 2021

A: I'm happy to give you a bit more information about pain management after liposuction.

The technique of your plastic surgeon can have a big impact on your post-op pain levels. In order to reduce pain, some surgeons will apply a numbing medicine to the tissue during liposuction to help decrease the pain after the surgery. Prescription-strength narcotics are often prescribed for patients- these are typically taken for only a few days, and then ibuprofen and Tylenol are sufficient after that.

Homeopathic creams such as Arnicare and bromelain can help with swelling and bruising as well. Lumpiness should not be a concern after liposuction if the correct surgical garments are being worn and the surgeon has a good surgical technique.

Q: What determines the type of bellybutton a person has after a tummy tuck?
Answered by Dr. DonaldsonJanuary 14, 2021

A: This is a crucial consideration that can sometimes be overlooked when searching for the right surgeon!

An unnatural looking belly button can be an instant giveaway that a patient has had a tummy tuck. Generally, the idea of a pretty and natural belly button is one that is more of an innie than an outie and somewhat vertically oriented into an oval shape. The anatomy of the patient (the location of the top of the hip bones, etc.) definitely plays a factor during surgery. The look of the belly button is also dependent on the comfortability and technique of the surgeon. The most helpful thing to do when researching a surgeon is to view the before and after pictures to make sure their work is something that appeals to you!
