I would strongly advise against using Steven Nielson. Initially, he appeared very thorough and had me come in every so often until he thought it was a good time to treat ( due to developing cateracts) However, once the surgery was done - he could not give me the time of day and could not get me out of there fast enough. TWO post ops appointments - lasting a few minutes maximum. Told me there was no need for a follow up ( ? ) If you check other reviews, you will see that this happend quite a bit with him. Had an eyelash that was growing into my eye - had him check twice and was told everything was fine. Went to my eye doctor five weeks later - who quickly discovered this and removed the eyelash. So eight weeks of being highly uncomfortable post surgery because he really could not be bothered to properly check. Eight thousand dollars for this and - one year later - and my eyes are actually worse. Floaters, starbursts, sensitivity to light - it has made my life very difficult as I am a visual artist. Additionally , my lids fell shortly after the lasik procedure resulting in a medically approved blephoplasty. I feel like I am living in a fog, have fatigue and blurred vision and have not felt myself since this surgery. Hopefully the surgery will help - but I would check out the negative reviews on this guy - because those are more accurrate imho. Every medical professional that I have relayed my ordeal to - rolls their eyes and indicates they are aware of his reputation and the poor post surgery care at his practice. Be careful - there are plenty of great reviews, famous local folks on his walls - but he can not be bothered and will keep you waiting hours post op and once he has the money - only to spend two minutes with you and fly out the door. Appalling experience that I am still dealing with.

I had Visian ICL's performed on both eyes and went from wearing -12 glasses to 20/20 within one day. I have had headaches through the recovery process but tolerable. I am glad both eyes were done at once and I only have one recovery period to endure. I think the difference is in the provider you choose. I had the iridotomies the week prior - uncomfortable but no big deal. The ICL procedure was less than 15 minutes per eye and I stayed for two hours to ensure no issues (long drive home so it was easier to stay). I slept the rest of the day and had a follow up the next morning which confirmed 20/20. A week out I find it difficult to use the computer for 10-12 hours straight but can feel improvement everyday. Now I just have to figure out what to do with these old glasses and contacts ..... lol No halos, etc I went to multiple LASIK Providers before deciding on Dr Nielson and I am glad I did. It's the provider that makes the difference in the outcome.
