Pregnancy and breastfeeding can take their toll on the body, resulting in excess weight gain, sagging skin, and other issues that cannot be treated with diet and exercise alone. Many of my Bethesda, Maryland patients opt for the mommy makeover to restore and improve the appearance of the abdomen and breasts through a combination of two or three procedures. Depending on the patient’s needs, the mommy makeover may include a breast augmentation, a breast lift or breast revision, liposuction, and/or a tummy tuck.
During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles can become stretched. A tummy tuck, also called an abdominoplasty, repairs the muscles while removing the extra skin and tightening the area to reveal a dramatically improved silhouette. This can be combined with liposuction to remove stubborn pockets of excess fat in areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, arms, thighs, hips, and more. Both of these procedures can be done with a breast augmentation and/or breast lift.

Breast augmentation continues to be one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the US. This surgery is meant to increase the size or enhance the shape of their breasts through implants, which consist of either saline or silicone gel.
For patients who are concerned with breasts that are sagging or have stretched skin, downward-pointing nipples, or enlarged areolas, a breast lift is a good option. This procedure restores lost perkiness and an overall youthful look. It can also be done in conjunction with an augmentation, which results in firmer, larger breasts.
