Dr. Janet Turkle is a double-board-certified plastic surgeon serving patients in Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana and the surrounding areas. At her private practice, Turkle and Associates, she and her colleagues offer a wide range of procedures to help you
Dr. Turkle and her entire staff have been amazing. She has great bedside manner and actually listens to you and your wants. I had several consultations before my surgery and she was by far the most down to earth and kind surgeon. She made sure I understood everything and knew what to expect. I would highly recommend her for any service.
My tummy tuck went relatively smoothly, although my recovery from the anesthesia was the roughest I've experienced (and I've been through anesthesia for surgery 7 or 8 times before). My scar is at least one inch higher on the left hip vs the right and looks crooked but I'm not too concerned about that. I have a large vertical incision which I understand cannot always be avoided. My belly looks much better after birthing 7 babies (one set of twins, and 5 of which were surrogate babies). However, if I had it to do over again, I would go to a different surgeon who uses fresh skin and creates a new belly button. Mine is just okay- it has the incision around it and apparently uses my original belly button which was really stretched out. After I scheduled with Dr. Turkle, I found surgeons on realself who create a new belly button which looks much better! The only other issue I had was after driving 2 hours each direction for follow up appointments, being rushed out of the office after 5 minutes with a nurse and 5 minutes with Dr. Turkle. Often my questions and concerns were left unanswered and I had to email to follow up, which often received more attention than my in-person appointments.
If you are on the fence about getting this procedure done, just do it! After two c sections, I was so self conscious about my belly overhang. I used realself to find a plastic surgeon near me that was highly rated. The reviews were not wrong, Dr. Turkle does wonderful work. I am so much more confident. The office is lovely, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a couple of concerns during recovery and they always fit me the same day to come in to make sure everything was okay. I highly recommend booking a consultation with Dr. Turkle if you are considering getting this procedure.
I have been wanting to get a reduction since I had my baby boy...who will be 11 in the fall. I turned 40 in last December and vowed this will be MY YEAR. I am an esthetician and asked my clients for recommendations. I asked 18 people who I've known to have had work done and 16 of them recommended Dr. Janet Turkle. So that was that and I scheduled my consult with the highly recommended doctor. I had my reduction 4/22/22, and back pain relief was immediate! So far I am beyond pleased with my results. I am still healing and can not wait to be bra free this summer. I will keep those interested on my recovery! Updated on 15 May 2022: I have Frankenstein nipples BUT they are getting better every day. I wish I had done more research so I wouldn’t have freaked when the scabs that I mistakenly thought were my areola came off. I am halfway through recovery and am still so very thankful I did it. My back is even more pleased!
I simply can't recommend Dr. Turkle highly enough. I was apprehensive about having surgery, but after breastfeeding 3 children, my breasts felt uncomfortable and bothered me daily. From my initial consultation with Dr. Turkle, I was certain that I was in the best hands. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable and experienced, she was very warm and welcomed my many questions and concerns. She was honest and realistic about what to expect and I never felt pressured. Most importantly, I simply couldn't be more happy with my results. Her work exceeded my expectations and her staff was very helpful and accessible during the entire recovery process. I have recommended Dr. Turkle to quite a few of my friends and family. I feel wonderful and am extremely grateful for her care throughout the entire process.
In October of 2020 I decided to have a mommy makeover. After working hard to reach my health fitness goals Dr. Turkle & staff helped me make the impossible possible. 6.5 lbs of stubborn fat that I could not get rid of is gone. Had a small hiccup in healing from sutures being rejected but Dr & her nurses assured me that I would heal and I have so it’s been worth the wait :) I received a tummy tuck with lipo and 440cc gummy bear implants and it has restored so much confidence for me. I recently did a boudoir shoot & look forward to being poolside in my bikini this summer. Thank you so so much !
I think my treatment was too powerful for my skin, and on top of that, I had an allergic reaction to the aftercare (Skinprint and Nulastin). Horrible swelling, intense itching, grid marks, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and face bumps. I’m heartbroken because I went in happy with my skin and just looking for maintenance. Now I look like I have scales. I’m one week out and hoping for improvement. I’ve been told everything will heal in two to three weeks, but no one really seems to tell me how. One of Dr. Turkle’s estheticians did the procedure and the doctor herself saw me for follow when I was so swollen. This has been a scary, traumatic experience.I had three of these previously with lovely results at a different medical spa, so the practitioner is paramount as is the aftercare. Any advice or reassurance would be appreciated. Updated on 13 Feb 2021: Using Epionce Medical Barrier cream and Vitamin C serum. Making a big difference. I am about 10 days out now. Swelling is down completely. I still have some pigmentation fading and light bumps. I feel like a full 30 days plus a light peel are needed for ideal results. If you get this treatment use Epionce as your aftercare! Makes all the difference! Updated on 15 Feb 2021: Today, I am 12 days out. Lots of pigment issues. I struggle with hyperpigmentation - and I chose this procedure because it’s touted as low risk for hyperpigmentation. All of the inflammation caused by the high heat and allergic reaction caused it to flare. And of course now new spots all along my cheeks where the pinpricks are healing. Such a suboptimal result. Again chasing my tail to fix a poorly executed procedure. Skin texture problems too. Definitely showing signs of trauma. Turkle’s office reached out to me for a follow up. Stay tuned for next steps to fix this mess. Updated on 20 Feb 2021: Went to doc’s office today, and they are treating me for hyperpigmentation and inflammation. They have assured me the procedure was done correctly and that recovery was in the realm of normal. So OK - I understand I signed a consent form that listed a all the things that occur with this treatment potentially. While I am disappointed with my short-term result and unhappy with the spots on my face, I am hopeful for long term recovery. The office is putting my on Alastin ultra nourishing moisturizer and a compounded hydroquinone, vitamin C, and steroid cream. I will give credit for the follow up. We will track my results weekly. Fingers crossed friends! Updated on 20 Feb 2021: On the day I initially saw Dr. Turkle for follow up, I had sent the photos below to show my swelling. The practice manager informed me that if I was serious about the follow up I needed to come in because Dr. Turkle didn’t base her recommendations or clinical assessments off of photos. Totally understandable. Today, however, I had what was supposed to be an appointment with Dr. Turkle. She was double booked and never laid eyes on me, but rather, determined my treatment course based off of photos that were taken by the esthetician at the beginning of my appointment began. I was made to feel like they must have somehow felt like I was trying to misrepresent my initial situation by this clear 180. Updated on 26 Feb 2021: So I finally broke down and cried tonight. I am panicked, frustrated, confused, worried about my face. It is healing, but it looks like crap. I have tons of hyperpigmentation. My pore size larger. My skin gets itchy and crepe like. I have lines and texture issues. I went in looking pretty good. Now I’m facing months of healing. Turkle’s office won’t admit any wrong doing. They remind me that I signed a release form. My main source of frustration is that my complications are so far from normal. I’m stuck with this long healing period. If I wasn’t burned, I shouldn’t need six weeks on top of the three I’ve had to heal. An allergic reaction to some cream would have resolved on 48 hours. Terrible. Updated on 26 Feb 2021: Also disappointing, I tried to post on this site to ask a question of the other docs who sometimes respond. The site refused to let me post because Turkle consults/participates on this site. I don’t see why that should mean other colleagues can’t comment. Updated on 27 Feb 2021: Great appointment today. Healing. After all of this - going to have a good result. OMG - a journey. Thank you Turkle and Associates for seeing it through. The pics side by side today show I’ve responded to the compounded cream. I’ve been taking oral glutathione too - an antioxidant that lightens the skin. I’m dry from the retinoids acid, but that will get better. I guess my last update was the dark before the light.
Hello I am 5 weeks post op and I am happy with my 360 cc moderate profile soft touch implants. But I am concerned about the left one having bottomed out? I have added photos from two days post op and this morning. Updated on 7 Nov 2020: Here's a before photo. I was a 32 B. I wanted a fuller looking check but wanted to look natural. That's why i went with the moderatr profile. Had a lot of second guessing myself when I chose that profile but I am glad I did because they definitely make me feel comfortable and natural. I am 5'1' and weigh 129 Ibs Updated on 11 Mar 2021: I am happy with the profile and fullness i went with I run, hike and sleep on my stomach so any bigger would be annoying to my lifestyle personally. The size is great I'm a 36C now. I wanted a natural look and just to be able to fill out a bikini top. I am happy with my results.
Surgery on 7/10/20 with Dr Turkle, explained procedure what would happen, my expectations and desired outcome. Very pleasant, excellent beside manner and even called evening after procedure to check on me. The staff is amazing also, with timely response to emails and phone calls, they answer all questions, and explain everything.I definitely recommend her.
I've been thinking about breast augmentation on and off for years and finally decided to do it this time. The pandemic might have made me realize that life is too short to not do something I've wanted to do and helped me gain courage to do the procedure. I chose Dr. Turkle because 2 of my friends recommended her, the clinic is not too far from my location and she had great reviews for the most part. I did the virtual consultation online and got called right away the next day by someone from the clinic to discuss the procedure. The person I spoke to was very kind over the phone and informative. I was impressed with how thorough she was. I was hooked and scheduled my appointment during that phone call. My husband was with me on my consultation appointment. Dr. Turkle discussed the procedure, implants and some post op expectations. She asked for my goal and told her a C or D cup even though I know the cup system is pretty flawed and bra sizes vary with bra companies.lol. I should have brought wish pictures but did not think of it at that time. I did share that I wanted it to look natural and showed her a picture of what I did not want it to look like. After speaking with Dr. Turkle, another staff came in the room to help me try on different size implants, take pictures and look at vectra imaging. I first decided on 450 cc but then Dr. Turkle came in the room and talked more about the risks of going that big so I decided on 375 cc instead. After the decision of the size was made, me and my husband were led to another room to discuss surgery scheduling and payment. I scheduled my surgery right away. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have scheduled right away and gave myself a few days to think or even scheduled appointments with other PS as well. I would still have chosen Dr. Turkle but not giving myself a few days to think and not having another PS opinion made me doubt my choice a lot while waiting for the surgery. In my own opinion, I think I would have felt better if I put in more time and effort to see other PS to reinforce my choice but it is what it is.. Like I said, I would probably end up choosing Dr. Turkle in the end either way.lol The follow up after my first appointment and waiting for surgery date to come was a little disappointing. I felt for a while that I was left to fend for answers or what the next step is after I paid the money. I called a few times asking for next steps and was given conflicting information with the paperwork and also with the different staff I spoke with. I am blaming it on the pandemic and understand that the staff might be struggling with the new routine on how they do things because of covid-19. There seems to be change of staff or short staffing at the clinic so I think that contributed to the confusion with the process but all other reviews you read about the clinic staff are great so I'm really thinking my experience is just because of all the changes and transition happening. The staff have been all nice over the phone though and have always called me back when I left a voicemail so I appreciate that. Surgery day finally came and Dr. Turkle had wonderful bedside manner as usual and shout out to the surgery team at Carmel as well because I had a really smooth experience and surgery day went well. I actually had my first post op appointment yesterday and felt like It was hurried since they seemed to have a good amount of people in the waiting area that day. I just shrugged it off because the things that needed to be done was done and so far my post op results look ok and that is what really matters to me. I had a few questions that I didn't get to ask during my first post op appointment but I just called and left a VM to the nurse earlier and she called me back right away to answer my questions which I truly like about the clinic. They are very good with calling back. I know recovery period is a journey and will continue to update as I go. Realself reviews has helped me a lot so I'm doing my part and hopefully my review will help other people too. Just remember that everyone is struggling with the new changes regarding the pandemic so be more understanding with the staff and I do recommend Dr. Turkle if you are thinking of breast augmentation. Updated on 6 Apr 2021: Excuse the stretch marks.lol. They are memories from breastfeeding.lol. My boobs gained a few cup sizes then and of course shrank after I was done. Pics are about 3 months post op. My incision healed up really well. None of the scary stuff I read online happened. I bought and followed the scar regimen they advised at the office and honestly not entirely sure if it helped with the scar. My skin is "challenging" though for a lack of a better word. I just get stretch marks and scars easily. Boob wise I fell good. It's been almost a year now and they feel like they belong to my body and have always been there.. Sometimes I forget I even had a boob job.lol. I know the size I picked has something to do with it though. I have friends who have picked larger sizes and some days I still wish I did but I have learned to love what I have specially that it works with my lifestyle. I move around a lot some days and also have small children still and end up carrying my youngest a lot when walking outside so it works for me.. I can't imagine doing the things I do right now if I had gone bigger. I also didn't want it to be too obvious to friends and family that I'd done surgery and so far it works out. I'm able to kind of hide them if I want to and can also show them off when I'm at a party. 375 cc on me is a flexible size so I'm content with it most days.
