QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Thank you for your question.  In our practice, we recommend that our patients wear a compressive sleeve garment for two weeks after treatment of the arms with Bodytite.  We find that compression helps reduce the postoperative swelling, seroma formation and overall patient discomfort during the initial healing phase.  We custom fit our patients with garments to ensure that they are not too tight or too loose.  It is possible that there is a specific reason why your plastic surgeon does not want you in compression after your treatment.  Best of luck with your recovery!

Thank you for your excellent question.  For patients like yourself that are not willing to undergo surgery to improve laxity to the lower face and neck, the best nonsurgical option is Facetite in combination with Fractora.  Facetite is an in office procedure done with a local anesthetic.   The procedure uses radio frequency energy to deliver heat  to all of the skin layers.  The radio frequency heat stimulates collagen production and remodeling which results in skin tightening.  During the procedure, a small catheter is introduced directly below the skin which when activated, heats all the layers of the skin.  This in turn stimulates collagen remodeling and skin tightening in the treatment area.  Two to four weeks later, we treat the skin surface with Fractora.  Fractora is an in office procedure done with topical numbing cream.  Fractora delivers additional radio frequency energy directly to the skin surface.  Fractora provides an added boost of energy to the collagen which in turn enhances the skin tightening.  We recommend 3 Fractora treatments done at two week intervals after Facetite.  There is very minimal downtime with each treatment (2-3 days).  I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Thank you for your question and I can certainly understand your concern.  Although it is difficult to tell exactly what is happening from the pictures, you may possibly have an incisional infection or a possible seroma both of which place your implant at risk.  I recommend that you immediately contact your plastic surgeon for evaluation.

Thank you for your excellent question.  I can appreciate your concern but you are very early in the post operative period.  Assuming that your plastic surgeon has examined your abdomen and there are no abnormal fluid collections, it usually takes approximately 6 months for all of the normal postoperative swelling to resolve after TT.  If the upper abdominal bulging is present after this healing time, then liposuction would be a consideration.

Thank you for your excellent question.  Your age alone is certainly not a contraindication for facelift, brow lift and brachipoplaty surgery in combination as long as you are in good health and the surgical time is not excessive.  In our practice, we take overall health into consideration when formulating a surgical plan.  We routinely perform a thorough history and physical, check routine blood work, obtain a baseline EKG and a chest X-ray prior to surgery.  Assuming that the preoperative workup is within normal limits, we then move forward with the surgical plan.  The amount of time spent under anesthesia is also something to consider.  When the surgical time exceeds 7 hours, the risk of complication begins to increase as well.  Please discuss these factors with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon if you have not done so already.  All the best with your scheduled procedures.

Thanks for sharing your story! While non-invasive technologies have come a long way, sometimes they are not the solution. It is difficult to make that determination for your situation without seeing you and examining you. Patients often struggle with deciding between non-invasive and surgical options for body contouring. The biggest deciding factor is their expectations. If a patient tells me she wants a firm, flat abdomen and the best results possible, then the answer is surgery. If the patient tells me she would be happy with some improvement but does not desire surgery, then non-invasive procedures are the answer. I highly recommend a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who offers both solutions. Best of Luck!

Thanks for your inquiry!  I can see why you feel the left side appears more natural. If you look at your photo, I would like to point out the reasons why. At the top or superior aspect of your breasts, the right side has a much fuller appearance and does not slope "naturally," so to speak while the right side has a much softer transition from the top of the breast to the apex of the nipple. The left side indeed has "bottomed out." This has caused the infra-mammary fold to appear lower and fuller. Unfortunately, this makes the nipple/areola position appear too high. The risk of lowering the other side would be that the nipple/areola complex (NAC) would potentially be too high on the breast mound and eventually, as the tissue ages and becomes heavier on the bottom, the NAC may become visible at the bra line or in swimsuits. An alternative solution would be to consider a revision that allows for bilateral modification of both implants. This would address the fullness on the right side by modifying the pocket slightly, possibly a little lower and also raising the left side to add support. This approach would essentially meet in the middle creating a more natural appearance. Certainly, every plastic surgeon will have a variety of techniques to offer you. Consultations are an important part of this process and will allow you to communicate your expectations and preferences to the surgeon. While photographs are helpful, nothing replaces a face-to-face consultation with an examination.

Thanks for your question! While a variety of options are available to improve the jowl area, from fillers to lasers to radiofrequency, 1 procedure may not be appropriate for everyone. The appearance of jowls is one of the first signs of aging and we focus on how to reverse those signs of aging. It may be through surgery, fillers or technology. The true art is figuring out which application is right for you. This is best determined during a consultation with Plastic Surgeon who understands anti-aging treatments. Good luck!

This is a great question. A combination of Body Tite and liposuction on the upper arms allows the surgeon to sculpt and define this area. Body Tite literally tightens the tissues and melts the fat and liposuction debulks any volume of fat that is unwanted. You are correct that your bony structure sets the foundation, however, it is not uncommon to use Body Tite to help etch out the underlying definition along the deltoid. Certainly, it is difficult to say for certain what would be indicated for you particular situation without an examination or photographs. I encourage you to schedule a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon so he or she can assess the area and best guide you on your journey. Good luck!

First of all, congratulations on your amazing weight loss!! As far as your arms are concerned, I do believe Body Tite will help improve the laxity and contour without a large scar. The crepey appearance of the skin can be improved upon as well but may require additional treatments with other modalities that target the superficial aspect of the skin, like fractora. Best of luck!!

My clothing fits better and I am just so comfortable

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kouris. He is extremely skilled, brilliant, and artistic. He is hands down the best surgeon. I researched plastic surgeons for a breast reduction with removal of implants. After narrowing my search, I interviewed and had consultations with 6 different plastic surgeons. I was very OCD with this process, as a decade earlier I had a poor experience with a surgeon who is now retired. Dr Kouris’ experience with breast surgery is bar none. A large portion of his surgical history is with RUSH university hospital where he performed the more complicated and reconstructive cases/patients. After meeting Dr Kouris in person, I knew immediately he was the person I would trust. Dr. Kouris speaks in laymen’s terms, easy to understand, explained the process and procedure very clearly, the recovery, and demonstrates that he wants the best possible outcome to the patient’s desire. He was very clear, artistic, and I couldn’t be more happy, I am thrilled with the outcome! The recovery, for me, was right on target, and seamless. He removed nearly 6 pounds total, bilaterally. In my younger years, I had undergone countless biopsies and was placed in the high risk breast cancer screening, because my breasts were very fibrous and dense. When Dr. Kouris performed my reduction and implant removal, he informed me he understood why I was screened so often, based on my breast tissue. I do NOT have cancer. He related he removed as much of that type of tissue as possible to help prevent further biopsies if possible. I am now 6 months post op, and I have had my first mammogram. The technicians and radiologist compared my before/after mammograms. They were all impressed and said I no longer have to be in the high risk breast cancer screening. My primary physician and my OBGYN were extremely pleased with my results. So much, they each requested Dr. Kouris’ information so they could refer their future patients. I no longer feel pain, my shoulders aren’t “rounded” anymore from the weight, my clothing fits better and I am just so comfortable. I no longer have an excuse NOT to exercise. The icing on the top, Dr. Kouris is a very nice and pleasant person with a great bedside manner. Anne, His administrative assistant at the office is very welcoming, kind, and easy going. Save yourself hours and hours of the research I have already done and schedule a consultation with Dr. Kouris. His work changed my life

I Can Finally Feel Comfortable in my Own Skin...pain Free!

Dr. kouris and his staff were such a blessing to find. They were professional and comforting. I always felt like I was in good hands. I was diagnosed with Poland’s syndrome at age 16. My first surgery to try and correct my breast was at 17. Then again at 21. After 13 years of slight weight loss/gain, having a child, and just plain ageing my breast starting taking on old characteristics. The naturally larger breast was sagging much lower with rippling and the breast that never developed naturally was sitting super high and kept getting harder. Come to find out that I have capsular contracture. I am a hair dresser and I use my arms and upper body on the regular. The pain got so intense it scared me. After getting a mammogram the results came back negative of any other issues. It was time for me to find another solution. Luckily I found Dr. kouris and his nurse Shela. The plan was to get rid of all the scar tissue build up the the breast causing pain and replace with smaller implants in both sides after doing a lift. Smaller implants would relive stress and hopefully prevent any further scar tissue build up in future. My surgery day went smoothly. Besides some usuall anxious nerves I was more excited to be free of the daily pain. Post surgery I felt great! Much different from any past surgeries. I followed Drs orders and kept on a med schedule and rested. After two weeks I was back behind the chair doing hair! First week was rough but after that my recovery was perfect. It doesn’t matter what my breast look like if I have pain...but I can confidently stand today feeling comfortable in my own skin. I have even normal looking breast! Most importantly the pain is gone. I feel like a new person. I’m a better mom and wife and stylist. I would highly recommend Dr kouris and his team. Thank you

Very Pleased with Staff and Treatment Recommendation!

I went to Dr Kouris on the recommendation of my GP, seeking a second opinion on the best non-invasive fat reduction/sculpting technique for me. I am fairly fit but just needed a little help in some target areas to reduce excess fat. Both he and his staff were courteous, informative and professional. After meeting with Dr Kouris, I scheduled my next consultation for the procedure and opted to move forward with the Body FX treatment course. I had the procedure done over several weeks in early winter through spring and am thrilled with the results even several months later. The main selling point for me with this procedure over other techniques was that the area treated could be more customized during the course of treatment -- so as fat began to disappear in certain areas, the more difficult areas could become the focus and the technician evaluated the results on a week-to-week basis to target specific zones. I had no pain at all during the treatments, the technician was wonderful and put me at ease. The staff worked with me to schedule appointments around my hectic schedule. Overall, I am very pleased with the Body FX treatment and highly recommend the staff at Dr Kouris' office.

$12,000Breast Lift with Implants

GettingMyGrooveBack2018

lumpectomy and mastopexy done same day by two different specialists.

I had a small lump in one breast and it bothered me. Sometimes it looked like a 3rd nipple and was tender sometimes. Dermatologist suggested I see a breast specialist. So I made an appointment with Dr. Kosik who suggested I have it removed. Mammogram and ultrasound indicated the lump was benign but removal would be best. I was on board w that plan. During pregnancy I gained 70lbs then I breastfed for 30 months. This of course left m breasts sad and deflated. Since the lump was on my areola I didn’t want any further asymmetry on my already unsightly breasts. I consulted w a plastic surgeon. A few actually. I looked on YouTube, RealSelf, google and asked around w friends who’ve have breast surgeries. After meeting with Dr. Kouris his nurse Sheila of Midwest Plastic Surgery I knew I had found the right team. They were willing to work w my general surgeon in the same hospital and as a team to give me the safest and best outcome. It’s too soon to see results but I’ve been in good hands. I just know I’m gonna love them. Posting some before photos. Updated on 15 Jun 2018: Don’t be discouraged by the sight of them. Most people have tape on their incisions and don’t get to show this part of their healing process. I’m allergic to a lot things including the adhesives used in tape etc so no steri strips for me. Also keep in mind that a breast specialist/general surgeon cut into my breast to remove a lump the same day as my plastic surgeon and he was still able to work his magic! Updated on 15 Jun 2018: I had some pain and they gave me Percocet in the hospital and I took a nap and felt better afterward to go home. I had a great experience at the hospital. Procedure was done at Amita hospital I’m LaGrange Highlands. Can’t recommend this place enough. Can’t recommend Dr. Kouris and his team enough. At home I slept a lot and moved around like they recommended but no lifting etc. Just getting up to walk and do my breathing exercises. Didn’t have much appetite. Had chicken broth and later chicken soup w soft veggies. Only reason I ate was to avoid upset stomach. Updated on 15 Jun 2018: Got up once to pee last night. My hubby has been helping me w that as it is uncomfortable to reach and wipe. Not sure if I sold be trying to do that on my own or not. I’m hesitant to do it since my incisions are not taped I’m a lot more gentle as to not rip my sutures. I let him pull my pants up and down. I did have a shower last night. I covered my breast’s w a hand towel and followed nurse sheilas instruction to let the water hit my back and only wash my body while avoiding the soap and water to hit my breasts directly. Hubby washed me w cloth and dial soap. I’ve been drinking lots of water. Everything through a straw so I won’t have to lift my cups etc. I’m way less tired than the day of the procedure. I feel great walking around but do like to nap or just rest afterward. Can’t wait to do my hair and makeup and feel pretty again (in the face). My boobs look freak but I’ve followed lots of real selfers and know this is pet of the process. I can tell my outcome is gonna be amazing. Updated on 15 Jun 2018: I will say there is a difference just from yesterday to today. Already looking better. I’ll add pics when I can but unable to do so right now. I’ve been comfortable sleeping upright so far and will continue to sleep and rest that way for as long as it’s comfortable. I have a second follow up appointment on Tuesday. We removed the scop patch today. I haven’t had norco today or Valium. I took Tylenol once today. Last prescription drugs were last night so I could rest well. Updated on 22 Jun 2018: Boobs looking better everyday. I’ll post more pics soon but trying not to do too much and phone has not been a priority lately. I’m taking down my day after op pic and will re pos later bc I don’t wanna s are anyone from doing this until they can see final results. That first pic is scary looking especially bc I don’t have tape and honestly if I had tape to covers the suture sites I would look “so good”. My swelling is minimal and my surgeon is amazing. That first pic would have an amateur or person just generally unfamiliar w the post op process thinking he butchered me. As far as how I’m feeling: Took Valium and norco first two days and then just Tylenol after that during the day as needed which wasn’t much. Took norco and Valium when I went to sleep every night since. I’ve slept amazing. Zero problems w being comfortable at night etc. I wake up feeling rested and amazing no morning boob. I do minimal stuff at home just like the dr ordered. Post op has been great. Had a little fatigue today and got weepy. All part of the process. The moment passed. Had nothing to do w how my boobs look or feel. Just the whole being dependent on others thing that I’m not used to.

Great Experience and Great Result

Dr. George Kouris is an exceptionally accomplished surgeon, who expertly combines both science and art in his practice. Due to the age of my breast implants, my breasts had begun to lose their shape. I met with Dr. Kouris to discuss my situation. His surgical nurse, Sheila McNally was also present and contributed significantly to the discussion. They immediately made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Dr. Kouris explained the complexity involved with the removal and my options. I elected to have the removal, new implants and an uplift done at the same time. I love the result. My breasts are healing well. I have had very little post-surgical discomfort. And, they look and feel great. I highly recommend Dr. George Kouris. Also, Nurse Sheila McNally is a very caring and professional member of Midwest Plastic Surgery team.

Wonderful Experience!

Last year, I had a breast lift done by Dr. Kouris and couldn't be happier! My scars are very minimal and have already faded significantly. My confidence has increased, and I feel very comfortable in my body. Dr. Kouris and his staff take the time to get to know you and your needs. Prior to the procedure, he explained in detail what would be done before, during, and after the operation. I felt at ease the entire time. The results were wonderful, the process went incredibly smoothly, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Wonderful experience!

I found Dr Kouris after researching many plastic surgeons in the Chicago area and I have no doubt I made the right choice. During my consultation he just put me at ease -- explaining why I needed to have my existing breast implants removed (something I should have done years ago) and replaced with a new safer implant. He thoroughly explained the procedure and what I could expect post-surgery. I'm thrilled with the results. Dr. Kouris and everyone in his office were terrific from start to finish. My only regret is that I didn't do this years ago.

Tummy Tuck with Liposuction

Dr. George Kouris and his staff were amazing throughout my whole procedure. They all made sure I understood exactly what was going to be happening, recovery time, medication, and the do’s and dont’s after the procedure. Dr. Kouris and his staff were very supportive and were there for me for any questions or concerns I had. No judgment from him and his staff. I would highly recommend Dr. Kouris and his staff for any procedure.
