Gum Lift--- Water Laser, Painless and Beautiful Results! - New Haven, CT

I traveled from Massachusetts to Southern CT for Dr Lerch to perform a gum lift and tooth contouring ( I could not find a Massachusetts MD who used a water laser and Dr Lerch was highly recommended) . I had wanted a gum lift/tooth contouring for years but the OLD way of performing a gum lift is horrible (IE: bloody, requiring stitches, using a scalpel, long recovery, etc). When I researched the water laser I'd heard it was essentially painless and I found this to be true! The only tiny discomfort was the novocaine injections which the Dr was so good at administering I could barely feel them. The gum lift (of 2 teeth) was basically painless, bloodless, and the procedure took about 15 minutes. The contouring of 4 teeth took about 5 minutes with no pain. The results were immediate and beautiful and I could not be happier! I took tylenol for minor discomfort on the drive home and had no problem eating dinner about 1.5 hours after the procedure. Dr Lerch and her staff are wonderfully warm and provide outstanding customer service in a gorgeous and immaculately clean office. I highly recommend them to anyone in the MA/CT /NY area. She is worth the trip!

Finally I Love my Smile - New Haven, CT

I should have had braces as a youngster and in late middle age wasn't sure if it was worth it. But now my smile is big and bright, and has enhanced my looks and confidence. I would recommend to anyone trying to turn back the clock through various procedures not to forget your teeth! A beautiful smile is a huge factor in maintaining a youthful and healthy appearance.

34 Years Old with 15 Year Old Bonding - New Haven, CT

I finally decided to have my two front teeth redone after having bonding for 15 years. I found Dr. Nancy Lerch via realself reviews and went to her office for a consult. They staff were all amazing! You really get a sense that they genuinely care about you as an individual. I explained my concerns and told the doctor my budget and I was told that zoom whitening and bonding were my best bets. I was surprised that the total cost was actually $400 under my budget, I felt confident in both Dr.Lerch and her staff so I had zoom whitening done first and them came back for my bonding today. I can't stop smiling. I'm actually looking forward to my follow up next week. I should add that I had some questions over the weekend and I was texting the dentist back and forth and never felt as if I was bothering her. I will never go to another cosmetic dentist :)

18 Year Old Boy - New Haven, CT

I wanted to fix the gaps in my smile. I had to do a two part process, first I used Invisalign to put my teeth in the correct location then my dentist used bonding to shape my smile. I found the pros of Invisalign were that it's invisible and that its just as effective and quick as braces. The cons were that it costs just slightly more than braces and you have to take out the trays when eating. Updated on 18 Jun 2015: I was disconnected before I finished my review previously. Here is the completed review: I naturally have very small teeth and as a result, even after getting my braces off (from a different dentist), I had gaps between my teeth, you could barely see my teeth when I smiled, and I had large decalcification (white) spots on my teeth. After discussing in depth the different options, Dr. Lerch and I decided that the best results would be achieved through Invisalign, cosmetic bonding and whitening. At first I was nervous about going to the dentist for something elective, but Dr. Lerch was very gentle and meticulous through the whole process. I could not be happier with the beautiful smile Dr. Lerch provided me. I cannot stop smiling and people are constantly giving me compliments on how beautiful my teeth are. Life is easier and more fun when you have a beautiful smile and I’m not afraid to show it now!!!

Half-way Through - Orange, CT

I wore braces when I was young, before retainers existed. As my wisdom teeth tried to come through and had no room, my teeth moved. I had all 4 removed, and wore a permanent metal retainer attached on my bottom teeth for several years. Still, my teeth never looked really good again. With time and age (I'm 60)they worsened. The bottom is very crowded and the top has a very crooked tooth. There is also an issue with my bite which will only get worse over time. So I decided it was now or never. My experience has been positive thanks to a well experienced provider. Except for 1 set, I have never had pain. BUT I am always very aware that they are on. I have had to file rough areas of every set. My tongue has never gotten used to them. The top one sometimes irritates my inside lip When I take them out to eat I have multiple attachment points which jut out and cut my lower lip. All of these things should be expected. The smiling face of the model wearing the braces belies the real story. There will be discomfort. My teeth are sensitive and so I never expected to get used to them and forget them were there. Nothing like traditional brace pain, it's more like a constant dull pressure. I'm half-way through and see a big difference on top and only a small change on the bottom. With the dentist's computer model I already know what the final results should look like. So far so good. It's not fun. They are a pain to take in and out to eat or drink hot tea. Like anything else worth doing, it takes commitment and patience. Updated on 18 Feb 2014: I actually forgot that I wrote a review until my dentist asked me to finish what I started. The last half of my treatment was uneventful and I got fairly used to them but could not wait for the day they came off. Bottom teeth gradually straightened out and lined up great with my top. Only downside was that now that my bottom teeth were so straight and my gums had receded, I now have spaces between my teeth near the gum line and food particles are always getting stuck. I carry small brushes with me for quick dashes into restrooms when needed. Was it worth it, a definite yes! I wore the first set of retainers every night for a year. Now I wear them a few times a week and realize I will have to wear one indefinitely I I want to retain what I have. The retainers are costly so I plan to wear each one to the point of cracking and discoloration before throwing it out. When initially bought, the retainers come in a 4 pack- sent every 3 months for a year. I'm still using number 2. I buy whitening gel and use my old retainer as a mold every 6 months. So between the straightening and the whitening there is a noticeable difference in my smile and I am very pleased with the outcome.

Discomfort & possible tooth shifting after veneers

In one day Dr. Lerch filed down 8 of my teeth, fitted me with a provisional set and filled in enamel gaps in two of my front teeth with composite. So far (Less than a week later): -My provisions look extremely fake and clownish. When I talk, people look at my teeth. -On the drive home from getting the provisions put in, I noticed it was loose (I don't know if that's normal). -The provisions have started to deteriorate with little chips occurring (even though I am following directions and being VERY careful). -On the two teeth with the composite fillings the composite is flaking off like paint clips. Billing: A family member is paying for the work Dr. Lerch is doing. The treatment plan came to 15,000. She wanted to charge him for the entire 15,000 in one go, even though her website says she requires partial payment to begin treatment. Arrangement where made with her to charge as treatment progresses. Feeling a little nervous as to what I've gotten myself into at this point. I have an appointment tomorrow. We'll see how it goes..... I will post back from time to time with updates. I hope I have only good news from here on out. Updated on 18 Nov 2013: Dr. Lerch did a little edit on my provision (four upper front). The result is STUNNING. I am now gorgeous....lol. No, but seriously, I am. That smile, that unattainable smile--that I thought I could never have, is now in my mouth. Yes, these are just provisions, and at the same time, these are only the crappy provisions! In other words, when I get my pearly porcelains in, well....look out world. Seriously. This work is fantastic. Very comfortable. Those canines I mentioned in the first review are now smooth. I can talk, eat, chew great, and I look amazing. When I get my finals, I will post before, mid and after photos. Totally worth it. No fears from here on out. Yes! Updated on 25 Dec 2013: Woow. Very nervous. I've been having some gum issues, the parameter where the gum meets the tooth suddenly became very raw while I was brushing, even though I was brushing normally (at the gum line) with the soft tooth brush I was given. Food debris and odor have been an issue, so I have been spending more time than usual brushing, however, gently. I don't know if brushing too much caused this. My gums are normally very healthy. I hope my gum line returns to normal. Anyway. I have made a list of things I will say if I am not 110% happy with the "try-ins", so as to not get pressured by the 3 woman, however nice, who work there. They have already mentioned to me about how "the gums will (magically) grow over any gaps there may be in the veneers over time". But, I will not agree to anything permanent that doesn't look great at the time of the try in. Period. Fingers and toes crossed. Deep breath.... Updated on 30 Jan 2014: I have a follow up visit in one week, were the Doctor will make any minor tweeks that may be needed. I don't love the color in these photos, but they looked brighter in the office. I thought my temps were a little too white, but I loved how they looked in a recent photoshoot. They don't look bad to me, but I can tell which ones are the ceramic veneers, and which are not. I was going for a "natural" look, but perhaps these are too yellow? Thoughts, advice? Updated on 5 Mar 2014: Okay, it's been several weeks since I got my ceramic veneers at Dr. Lerch's office. I have been having a lot of discomfort with my two front teeth were it feels like there is something stuck in between my teeth there and it gets really annoying. Also, since my gums have settled down, I've noticed a little black shadow right at the gum line in between my two upper front teeth. Am I being picky, or does it look a little like a piece of black pepper stuck in my tooth? Lastly, and most scarey, it feels like my teeth are shifting and when I took a picture from below of my bite, I noticed it looks a lot different, considering it's only been weeks. I would really like to get some feed back and opinions from others. Any insight from professionals in the dental field would be most appreciated.
