Dr. Amy Hsu is a rare gem in the world of aesthetic surgery. I first met her 7 years ago for Botox, and even then, she wouldn’t consider surgery for me — she genuinely didn’t think I needed it. That humility and honesty stayed with me. Years later, I came back to her for a revision lip lift, which she absolutely aced. Most recently, I had an endoscopic brow lift with CO2 laser, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

What truly sets Dr. Hsu apart is her dedication to perfection and the time she invests in understanding exactly what her patients want. She’s never rushed. The day before surgery, she carefully mapped and marked my face, checking in multiple times to ensure we were perfectly aligned on the vision. She repeated the process right before surgery, making sure every detail felt right. That kind of precision and presence is rare in this industry.

My recovery was smooth — minimal bruising, barely-there scarring, and natural results that have exceeded every expectation. No one knows I had surgery — not even my daughter or closest friend. All I hear is, “You look so rested and happy!” People assume I changed my skincare routine or got better sleep. That’s how naturally excellent Dr. Hsu’s work is.

The pictures I’ve shared are just 3 weeks post-surgery — and I’m still healing! I recommend doing the CO2 laser at the same time if you’re considering it, because I found the combined recovery to be very tolerable and absolutely worth it.

I’ve consulted with many top surgeons over the years and done my research. I trust no one else with my face. Dr. Hsu is not just a surgeon — she’s an artist, a listener, a professional, and an absolute master of her craft.

There’s nothing like a true apples-to-apples comparison when it comes to before and after photos. I went through my selfie stash and recreated the original shot as closely as possible. You can see the comparison below.

Just a quick note: in the before photo, I’m wearing mascara and bottom eyeliner, but no other makeup. In the after photo, I’m not wearing any makeup at all. The eyeliner on the upper lid is a tattoo and is present in both photos.

The only remaining discoloration I have is on my lids—it comes and goes, which is totally expected at this stage.

Best possible experience with Amy!! She is so kind and I felt so comfortable and not anxious at all throughout the whole process! The surgery went super well and the recovery was super easy, and the post-op appointments are great. I super recommend her as I felt like I was in the best hands possible and I’m so happy about the result.

The surgery:
I felt absolutely no pain during the procedure. The closest thing I felt to pain was getting the initial numbing injection.

About an hour after the surgery, I felt slight pain— sort of like a dull ache. I didn’t find it necessary to take any pain medication and it eventually subsided by itself.

I am currently 2 days post op. I will continue to update this post as time goes on!

I am 1 week and 1 day post op today. I cannot believe how great the scar is healing already. This is clearly a testament to how well Dr. Hsu’s work is. No one has been able to notice that I had anything done.

Money well spent. I am so happy. I will continue to update!

Over the moon with my results! Very natural yet drastic difference it made to my masculine mug. Dr. Hsu went above and beyond to take care of me every step of the way and ensured I got exactly what I wanted. Never experienced after care with surgery like I did with her, she really makes sure you are happy with your results and that the scaring is hardly visible. Quick and easy recovery, nobody even noticed I had work done after a month out (you can resume work/activities sooner but I wanted to give myself a full month to heal better). Best decision I've ever made cosmetically.

Dr Amy is a rare doctor in Beverly Hills that is willing to take time and really listen to you. I went to two different doctors for their opinions about a bump on my nose - both rushed me and said we should just cut it off. Dr Amy took an hour and a half to talk through my options with me, and she was so patient and thoughtful and answered my millions of questions. The actual treatment was painless and easy and she’s taken a lot of interest and care in my healing. I’m so grateful I found her! I feel so safe in her hands!

I always have an amazing experience! Dr Amy takes her time and always makes sure you are happy with the results. I have been seeing her for years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. She does my Botox and lip filler, and I'm always happy with the outcome.

Dr. Hsu does excellent work. I’ve been very satisfied with my Botox with her. She takes her time to get to know you and makes sure you are satisfied with what you have gotten done. She also helped me with scars that weren’t healing from a procedure I had gotten done with another doctor. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr Hsu to anyone who is looking for a top rated doctor.

I have been meaning to write a review for quite some time regarding my lip lift surgery with Dr. Hsu.

As you will see below - I originally had a really long philtrum and thin upper lip. In November 2021, I had a lip lift procedure done with another surgeon. Although my philtrum and upper lip looked better than my original lip, it wasn’t quite the look I wanted. Not to mention, I was left with noticeable scarring and the sides of my nose were not healing properly.

After EXTENSIVE research, I found Dr. Hsu - an experienced facial surgeon who also specializes in lip lifts. When I first met with Dr. Hsu, she was honest with me and explained that she would not be able to make my revision perfect, but assured me she would be able to reduce the scarring and suture the sides of my nose so they would heal properly. She also explained that I had a little more room to make my philtrum shorter.

After carefully listening to her ideas of how she wanted to do my revision, I decided to have her do it - and boy oh boy I am beyond happy that I did!

As you will notice from my after photos below, not only is my scarring significantly reduced, and sides of my nose healed, but my philtrum is much shorter and my upper lip is EXACTLY what I wanted!

I am now considering having my round nose thinned out a little and taking in the sides of my nostrils so it is not as wide. Because Dr. Hsu EXCEEDED my expectations with my lip lift revision, you can bet that I will have her perform the surgery on my nose as well.

If you are considering a lip lift procedure - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Hsu. Not only is she honest and personable, she is an amazing surgeon who will exceed your expectations!

I got my lip lift done by Dr. Amy in Beverly Hills, CA and couldn’t be happier! As someone who is dark skinned, I was worried about scarring because I read that darker skinned people are not only likelier to develop keloid scars but also have thicker and more visible scars. The bullhorn lip lift procedure is a procedure done along the base of the nose, in a bullhorn fashion. Therefore, if there’s scarring, it’ll be visible.

I researched many doctors - Dr. Gary, Dr, Mascaro, and Dr. Frankel. I ultimately decided to go with Dr. Amy after reading a Reddit review about how amazing her bedside manners were, her patience with answering patients’ questions, and how she never hesitates to turn people away who were not suitable candidates for the procedure. The last part is very important to me because there are many surgeons who’ll do whatever a patient wants without taking their facial anatomy into consideration because they only care about money. Dr. Amy truly cares about her patients and will never perform procedures that’ll place them in the uncanny valley territory.

For anyone who is dark skinned and are interested in getting a lip lift, I would go with Dr. Amy. Do not be scared by how much she charges because she’s worth every penny! You only get one shot with this procedure to get it right so why not go with someone whose attention to detail is literally so insane, I was blown away. Dr. Amy’s incisions are so tiny and she really takes her time, I felt like no part of my surgery and even consultation was rushed. I would say, following her post-op instructions are so important because it’ll really help you heal faster and minimize scarring. Even if you do scar a little bit (trust me it won’t be anything huge at all), she offers kenalog shots to help shrink and flatten them. I had the tiniest keloid scar and after 4 kenalog shot sessions, it’s nowhere to be found. My family saw me 2 months post-op and couldn’t even tell that I had anything done although they did say that I looked better. Before this surgery, I didn’t know how important your philtrum was when it comes to facial harmony but after I’ve gotten it done, I see the huge but subtle difference it’s made to my appearance. Thank you Dr. Amy for an amazing result!

Dr. Hsu is a wonderful and very talented doctor. I experienced her to be kind, patient, calm, and professional. I had several consults with other plastic surgeons regarding what procedure would help my drooping eyes, and I got varying recommendations which caused me a great deal of confusion and anxiety as I did not want to make the wrong decision and look weird. Dr. Hsu met with me for an hour, and suggested an endoscopic brow lift to address the droop that had gotten increasingly worse since turning 40. I had such a positive impression and good feeling after our consult, that I booked the surgery immediately! I was so nervous having never done anything aside from Botox and injectables to my face/body that I had no idea what to expect, but I am SO glad I did it and the results are beautiful, natural, and subtle—exactly what I wanted.

In a sea of overrated male plastic surgeons in Los Angeles, Dr. Hsu is breath of fresh air and a true talent.
