Was at the dentist last month and while the assistant was looking at my teeth she suggested I may be a candidate for Invisalign. Had braces as a teenager...now 30 years old. Got molds taken last month and was advised that I am a candidate for the "Express." Went yesterday and got first two sets of trays. Teeth are sore, but would not say it is painful. Before the initial trays were put in my mouth there was some work done to increase the space between teeth. Not pleasant but no pain either. So far so good. We'll see how the teeth look in 20 weeks! Updated on May 20, 2008 Have completed two sets of trays (out of ten). Yes, they are a little sore the first day or two of a new tray, but the inconvenience is minimal. I wear them all day, except for lunch, and take them out when I return hom from work. I then eat dinner and enjoy a couple smokes, then put the trays back in after an hour or two. Overall it is much better than regular braces (I had them when I was an adolescent) and I am looking forward to the final results.
I'm 35+ years old and always wanted straight teeth but thinking about going through braces was enough to make me not want to do it. I had come across an ad I saw online for a local dentist that did the invisible braces, it's called Invisalign. I called and got a consult and liked the price and all that they had to say. The office was nice, clean... a little outdated but thats ok. The dentist seems genuine and caring, I had my own dentist but would be willing to switch if needed for the treatment in the mean time. No pressure there, so that was a good thing. The treatment process was suppose to be easy and a series of aligners that I would get from them and just basically wear. The problem was that the appointment scheduling was always hectic, my work schedule (yes i work... sorry!) was always conflicting with their appointment times. They NEVER stay open past 5pm, not even one day... they are closed on Fridays and the earliest I could get in was 9am. They would tell me to come on my lunch, but with the drive from the office to the dentist, that would never work. I spoke to a lady who i work with and she is going through the braces process and says her orthodontist is always open at least one night a week into the evening to accomodate working parents. I've paid and now i'm stuck with the dentist who is more interested with making money than helping patients with their smile. His office lady at the front desk is rude, she is condescending and needs a lesson on customer service. I'm always so friendly with her and she is so unhappy... smile lady, it won't kill you. Buyer beware, there are other offices in the area who offer the same treatments and will be willing to work with the patients to get them their appointments.
Most teeth that have had root canals have large areas of decay or restoration. This weakens the remaining tooth and makes it more susceptible to fracture. We place a crown to wrap around a tooth and protect it from fracture. I hope this helps you. Please consult your dentist for more information regarding your situation.
